LIFELINE MARCH 2021
Pastor’s Prattle
Recent events have shown me once again how fragile and finite life is. It only takes a second for something drastic to happen that can change your life and set you on a new path, one that you didn’t see coming. Or, it only takes a second, and it could all be over. Fact is, it WILL end one day.
It’s in those moments that we have the opportunity to reflect on our lives, to evaluate how and what we are doing. What do our lives mean and what’s important? However, we shouldn’t wait until something happens to reflect. “The time to prepare for war is in times of peace,” someone said. It should be a regular practice to ask ourselves some questions –
- What are the priorities in my life?
- At the end, what will really matter?
- What meaning or value does my life have? To me? To others?
- How does my life, conduct, impact others?
- How is my relationship with God?
- Am I prepared for the end of my life?
These, and probably many other similar questions, should be a regular part of our reflecting on our lives.
We are in the season of Lent. This is traditionally a time of reflection. It’s a focused opportunity for us to evaluate our lives in terms of what God wants for us. Specifically, it’s a time for us to discover where we have fallen short in our relationship with him and to come before him with repentant hearts. We fall at his feet, asking for his forgiveness.
However, as Lent offers us an opportunity to reflect and prepare to remember Christ’s sacrifice for us, we are also reminded each week that his sacrifice was all about bringing us new life. As we look at our sinfulness and come humbly before God, we continuously hear the good news that he has forgiven us and that new life is ours. Easter will be the joyous celebration of that fact.
As you continue your journey through Lent, be honest about your relationship with God and come before him with repentant hearts, hearts that could stop beating in an instant. And take comfort in the fact he is holding you firmly in his hands and has a wondrous new life waiting.

Guatemala, June 12-19
Once again, we are planning a mission trip to
Guatemala in June. We hope that everything is
opened up enough that we will be able to go. The
situation was not as bad in Chichicastenango as in other parts of the
country, so we are praying they will be allowing mission groups to
come into the country.
If you are interested in going with us, now is the time to be thinking
about it. If you want to come, or just have questions, please let Pastor
Jim know. We are starting to put the list together now.

The Shears Family Reunion!
On February 14th, during the
contemporary service, there was a
reunion of the Shears family including
sons, Josh and Jon. It was a reunion of
what they used to call Clancaya, the
praise band when they were in New
Orleans. This was the first time they
were all together since Hurricane
Katrina!
______ Preschool Days ______ Snowy Art
Our two year old class had fun painting their valentine hearts for their mommy and daddy’s using pine branches and their fingers.
Our JK classes got busy with glitter, hearts, glue and stickers when they created their Valentine masked for their party on Friday. They enjoyed making beautiful cards for their family send having a pizza party.
As a surprise, the children decorated Pastor Jim’s office door and window with lots of “get well messages.”
