Rui Oliveira
Rui Oliveira holds a chemical engineering degree and a Biochemical engineering Ph.D. since 1998. He is the head of the Systems Biology and Engineering Lab at FCT-UNL since 2001. He has been the lead scientist of several research projects with Biopharma companies in the US and Europe. He is author of more than 50 research papers in high impact scientific journals. He is inventor of two international patents and 3 national patents. He has coordinated the development of CFE-Media
® technology and of Pichia-FEM
TM.
António Dinis
António holds a Biotechnology degree and a MBA. Since 2007 He works as an Account Manager at Hovione promoting products and services to pharmaceutical companies. Previously he worked for seven years at DSM, where he held several managerial positions and was involved international strategic projects. António is also an experienced business catalyst and has helped a number of scientists to bring their technologies closer to market.
João Dias
João Dias holds a Chemical Engineering degree and a Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Ph.D. from FCT-UNL. He is currently a Post-doctoral researcher at the same institution. He has over 7 years’ experience in computational systems biology and bioinformatics. He has participated in 2008-2009 in a research project with Merck&Co - FASTPICHIA - for the optimization of Pichia pastoris cultivations. João has also been deeply involved in the development of CFE-Media
® technology and of Pichia-FEM
TM and he is one of
the inventors of MediaOmics® technology.
MediaOmics® Promoters
Nuno Carinhas
Nuno holds a Biology degree and is scheduled to defend his PhD thesis in Biotechnology this year. His work focuses on the application of Systems Biology approaches to biotechnology, the core of MediaOmics
® technology. In addition,
he has taken entrepreneurial and biotechnology short courses in leading universities, including UNL and MIT. Along the past 3 years, he has been an enthusiast of finance, particularly in the Biotech and Biopharma industries.
Filipe Ataíde
Filipe holds a M.Sc. degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from FCT-UNL since 2007. He is currently developing his Ph.D. work in the field of nanobiotechnology. He has experience in designing and synthesizing magnetic nanoparticles with functional coatings to enhance the efficiency of oxygen transfer from gases to liquids. This technology is at the basis of reusable culture media ingredients and could be a valuable asset in the future. He is an enthusiast of operations management of Biotech/Chemical Plants and of entrepreneurial activities.
Ana Ferreira
Ana Raquel holds a Chemical Engineering degree from FCT-UNL since 2005. She started her PhD thesis in March 2008 at FCT-UNL in partnership with iBET. She has more than 5 years’ experience in Pichia pastoris laboratorial research. She has experience in Pichia pastoris cultivations for therapeutic proteins production at different scales, including shake flasks, laboratorial reactors and pilot scale reactors. She has been deeply involved in the development of Pichia-FEM
TM and she is one of the inventors of MediaOmics
® technology.
