Product range
As one of Europe’s largest distributors of cleanroom products, we have a worldwide network of well-known suppliers at our disposal, and
we keep a wide range of top-quality products ready on hand for you. The catalogue presents a large part of the products available on the
market. Our staff ensures that the product range stays up to date by permanent worldwide product scouting. If you are looking for a
particular product, please ask our sales team, who will give you skilled and friendly advice.
Cleanroom classes
To ease your search for the right product for your particular application, we indicate – as far as is possible – the cleanroom classes in which
the specified products can be used. This recommendation is based on the information provided by the manufacturer and the material
properties of the product, and does not imply the availability of test reports, certificates, or validation documentation.
The allocation is indicated by means of 6 color marked fields which are numbered from cleanroom class 1 / ISO 3 to 100.000/ ISO 8. The
corresponding area of application for the product is indicated by color.
Example for application
≥ class 10/ ISO 4
If you have any cleanroom class related questions regarding the suitability of products in a specific manufacturing environment, please
contact our sales team.
Ordering
Our catalogue is a source of information, and therefore does not contain order numbers.
Because cleanroom applications are in many cases very specific, we would be pleased to
discuss with you which product is suitable for your specific application. Our sales team will
be pleased to prepare an offer for you, tailored to your requirements.

To ensure integrated supply and consultancy, basan offers a number of services and an optimum supply concept for all your requirements,
in addition to the comprehensive range of products.
Our range of services: Creation of cleaning, hygiene and disinfection plans
Creation of glove and wiper plans
 Performance measurement of cleanroom flooring
 Training of cleanroom personnel
 Gowning room concepts
 Logistics services
Garment concepts including decontamination and leasing
The basan Full Service Concept, including analysis of requirements.
The basis of every service is an analysis of your specific requirements and of the onsite circumstances. This includes a gap analysis combined
with an inspection of plant and cleanrooms. And thus our services are not static; instead they are adapted as required to changing
circumstances.
The training which we offer is highly practice-oriented and always takes into account the currently applicable regulations.
Creation of cleaning, disinfection and hygiene plans
The purpose of a cleaning, disinfection or hygiene plan is to define the responsibilities in the cleanroom. It contains a lucid, easily under-
stood presentation of the ‘what’, ‘when’, ‘how’, and ‘with what’ cleaning is to be carried out and ‘who’ is responsible for the cleaning.
The creation of cleaning, disinfection or hygiene plans requires
not only knowledge of which areas and surfaces to be cleaned,
but above all the knowledge of the effects of the cleaning agents
applied.
Benefits for you: Optimisation of the range and the composition
 of cleaning agents and disinfectants
 Cost saving
 Time saving
 Making work easier.

Creation of glove and wiper plans
Because of the differing requirements placed on gloves and wipers in the cleanroom and in controlled environments, a wide range of pro-
ducts is used.
basan supports you in the choice of suitable products. The aim is to optimise the multiplicity of gloves and wipers used, taking into account
the applicable regulations, standards and the state of the art.
Benefits for you: Optimisation and reduction of the product range which you use
 Cost saving
 Simplified handling
 Clear documentation
Increased work safety for your personnel
Performance measuring of cleanroom flooring
Particles have a basic tendency to settle on surfaces. This effect relies on varying adhesive forces and is greatly encouraged by the room’s
airflow. In this case, the floor and fixed flooring represent the final location upon which contamination can remain.
It is precisely in connection with pre-cleaning or dust fixing of particles adhering to shoe soles that the use of flooring from Dycem is
recommended. The adhesive action, and thus the effectiveness of the Dycem flooring, should therefore be checked at regular intervals.
Because it is heavy traffic combined with a high degree of contamination and inappropriate cleaning that in fact causes even high quality
flooring to undergo a significant reduction in adhesive effect.
Although when new, the use of these flooring prevents 99% of the
demonstrable contamination in the cleanroom, the particle trapping
performance can fall below 50 % after two and more years.
Therefore, if the intention is to prevent the entry of particles into the
cleanroom, it is recommended to test the efficiency of the flooring
at regular intervals by means of a special measuring apparatus.
We will be pleased to conduct such a measurement of efficiency at
your site.
Please see section 8, page 55 for more information on the
measuring procedure.

Training of cleanroom personnel
A significant factor in quality assurance of the production process is the qualification of your personnel.
New personnel, and those already working in the cleanroom, must constantly adapt themselves to the requirements and circumstances of
cleanroom operation, and must be regularly trained in this respect.
The training is not merely a matter of echoing the specific work content and guidelines on behaviour, but specialist knowledge must also
be conveyed und refreshed. This motivates and simultaneously increases the efficiency of your staff.
An overview of our training: Hygiene (definition, regulations and guidelines, various aspects of hygiene, measures)
Basics of microbiology (overview of micro-organisms, main infective diseases, pathogens and symptoms, protective measures, combating)
Sources of contamination and cross contamination
Accompanying measures to avoid contamination (physical hygiene, cleanroom garments, the process of changing garments, man as a
 source of contamination, waste handling)
 Cleaning and disinfection measures
Skin protection (functions of the skin, skin protection, skin care, hand cleaning, skin care plan)
Safety (rules for handling cleaning and disinfection chemicals, protective equipment, hazardous materials, environmental protection,
storage, operating procedures, hazardous material symbols, product labelling)
Gowning procedures / locking in and out (sequence and technique of putting on and taking off cleanroom garments, locking in and out
 correctly)
Training on cleanroom garments (explanation of the various materials, application according to cleanroom classes, functionality of the fabric)
Benefits for you: Your own personnel spend less time in preparing, executing and following up the training
Psychological effect – the acceptance of external trainers is often greater than of colleagues
Staff who have undergone frequent training experience new content and methods of presentation
A considerable number of customers has already attended our training courses. We are pleased to provide a list of references upon request.

Gowning room concepts
A decisive element of cleanroom technology when designing new facilities or during reconstruction is the personnel air-lock area, which in
itself defines the entire cleanroom gowning area and – if present – the air shower area.
For it is here that contamination transfer into production areas is at its greatest – where often several hundred people in several shifts per
day lock in and out. Apart from the reduction of contamination risk, a well planned layout of the personnel flow also has a positive effect
on the investment costs.
We support you in the planning and advise you in terms of design for the (re)construction of your personnel air-lock(s).
In addition, we work together with internationally famous suppliers of gowning room equipment, who investigate your specific requirements
(spatially and ergonomically).
Benefits for you: You use our know-how from projects with
 similar requirements
You have increased certainty in your
 budget planning.
Logistics services
Our logistics area is where basan ensures
the permanent availability of the defined
cleanroom consumables and additionally
assumes all administrative and logistic
functions, such as consumption planning,
local stock keeping (inventory management)
and material and transport arrangements.
This equally includes various options for
electronic order transfer, up to and including complete system integration – and here basan itself uses SAP as the inventory control system
and offers an IT platform which is compatible with the SAP industry standard.
Benefits for you: You have 100% certainty of delivery and supply, and absolute transparency over available material stock levels
You achieve cost saving potentials through the optimisation of the interfaces between purchasing, storage and production
You create freedom for yourself, so that you can concentrate solely and entirely on your core business

functionality and comfort and considering both technical and economic features.
We help you to create a suitable garment concept and to integrate the management of cleanroom garments into your internal processes.
This also includes the optimisation of already existing garment concepts.
We recommend to you a suitable leasing partner who is specialised in the expert decontamination and sterilisation of cleanroom garments
and will make you a professional leasing proposal including wardrobe service.
With our leasing partners, we offer you the following services:
On-site collection of used cleanroom garments

DecontaminationCleanroom garments require special decontamination processes. The difference to normal
cleaning methods is that mechanical friction is minimized to protect the fabric. The low-
particle is achieved through special washing processes.
The first natural wear out* of the garments can already occur after 100 wash cycles, in spite
of optimal decontamination. If in addition to mechanical wear stress and decontamination, a
sterilization treatment is also added, the life cycle of the garments decreases to approx. 70
washes.
*Because there are currently no recognized testing procedures for determining resistance to aging, we can only providenon-binding experiential values.

Protection of Products and Operators by Disposable Garments
Disposable garments are often a supplement to the reusable garments, and the application goes from operator protection to product
protection.
It is hardly possible to recommend a cleanroom class for the products, because disposable garments are in most cases not cleanroom
processed. Low particulate and extractable levels are not given.
A complete range of disposable garments is available in different materials, styles and sizes.

 Dirt, moisture and temperature can
affect the electrical resistance of
footwear
 Electrical resistance should be regularly
tested on site.
In cleanroom environments, it is necessary to minimize the risk of accidents to personnel
by slipping, and also to prevent faults and downtime caused by the discharge of static
electricity. The correct footwear is necessary in addition to the installed plant, floor areas
and clothing.
Footwear is worn for many hours each day and must offer safety (for people and processes)
as well as comfort.
There are differences in the footwear for safety, protection and industry, which are designed
according to the following European standards:
DIN EN 61340-5-1: Protection of components sensitive to electrostatic charges / overall requirements
DIN EN 4843-100: Requirements on the safety and anti-slip test
DIN EN 344-1: Requirements and test methods for safety, protective and working footwear for
industrial use
DIN EN 345-1: Specification of the safety shoe for professional use
DIN EN 346-1: Specification of the protective shoe for professional use
DIN EN 347-1: Specification of the professional shoe for professional use
Waterproof footwear should be worn wherever large quantities of liquids are present. PU clogs or Microfibre shoes, which can be cleaned
and desinfected, should be worn. Where it is necessary to limit or prevent electrostatic charging, antistatic or ESD
protected footwear is essential.

Wipers
Wipers are amongst the most important consumables in the cleanroom. They are integral to a complex cleaning process which removes
contaminants generally invisible to the naked eye and support the maintenance of good basic hygiene together with a clean visual impression.
To ensure efficient cleaning, the wipers must be able to absorb a wide range of surface contaminants in the shortest possible time and
without themselves distributing further pollution in the form of particles, fibres, ions or microbiological contaminants.
Because cleanroom requirements vary widely, the selected wipers must be appropriate to the application. The various materials and structures
of the wipers have a major effect on their technical and functional performance.
The first level of selection is:
 Dry Wipers
 Pre-wetted Wipers
 Sterile Wipers

Swabs are used to clean surfaces in the manufacturing area which are critical yet and difficult
to reach. They also have a valuable role, especially in the pharmaceutical industry, in the vali-
dation and verification of the cleaning process with documented evidence. For surfaces
which come into contact with products, the defined cleaning process is suited to reduce resi-
dual product and microbiological contaminants as well as cleaning residue to a predefined
level. In this way, all of the values which influence the degree of cleanliness are recorded and
evaluated under a worst case scenario.
Swabs are available with a wide variety of handle and head forms, also as an ESD version.

TOC Cleaning Validation Kit
The TOC (Total Organic Carbon) Cleaning Validation Kits have been designed to simplify
sampling for cleaning validation in the pharmaceutical industry. The kit can also be used
with Sievers, Tekmar Dohrman and Anatel A 2000 to measure TOC. The kit contains
components for sampling 12 resp. 72 different areas in the production area, and provides
an efficient transport of the samples from production to laboratory with minimal chance of
contamination.
The vials are manufactured, analyzed and certified to < 10ppb TOC by Eagle Picher and
show low TOC blank values. Certificates of analysis ensure traceability of the production
lots. The kit also includes labels so samples can be properly identified at the sampling site.

08MATSANDFLOORING
08 MATS AND FLOORING
Dust- and particle-collecting mats and special flooring to prevent contamination
Particles have a basic tendency to settle on flat surfaces, due to the varying adhesion factors throughout the cleanrooms and strongly influ-
enced by the airflow characteristics. The flooring is the final location where particles settle or remain as captured contamination.
Peel-off mats, permanent mats and special floor coverings are essential to control particle contamination. For optimal effective control of
contamination, the combination of permanent mats, special flooring and peel-off mats is highly recommended.
Peel-off Mats
Due to their strong adhesive effect, peel-off mats are installed to pre-clean. They prevent contaminants present on shoe soles and trolley
wheels from entering the cleanroom or other critical working areas.
Features: 30, alternatively 60 layers
White base, transparent layers
 (further colors available upon request)
 Self-adhesive base prevents slipping
Low profile (approx. 1.5 mm for 30 layers,
2 mm for 60 layers) prevents tripping
No cleaning necessary – dirty layers are
 simply peeled off
Each layer is numbered, so the number of
 layers remaining is easily identified
Additional information: The adhesive on each layer contains an

08Permanent Mats
MATS AND FLOORING
Permanent mats provide the highest level of cleanliness, they collect dust from the soles of shoes and trolley wheels. The life of the mats
strongly depend on the volume and degree of cleanliness of the foot and wheeled traffic. Solvent-based cleaning materials should on no
account be used on these mats: they will adversely affect both the function and the appearance. To avoid risk of slipping, it is also important
that both the mats and the flooring should be completely dry.

Performance measuring of cleanroom flooring
A special measuring instrument – the Advanced Force Gorge (AFG) – was developed for
the easy and highly specific measurement of tension and compression forces in Newtons.
The measured Newtonian force is set in relation to the particle retention capacity and the
particle collection capacity of CleanZone and WorkZone, as illustrated in the table. The
higher the force in Newtons, the higher the particle retention capacity of the flooring.
The table contains typical readings for CleanZone measured with an AFG in relation to the
percentage of particles removed from a clean surface.
If the attraction force in Newtons is less than 10, then we recommend replacing the floo-
ring, since this corresponds to a maximum particle retention capacity of only 55%.
Note: The measuring procedure has not been designed or tested for any other contamination control floor products i.e.not peel off mats, or any other polymeric floor coverings than CleanZone and Workzone. Therefore we cannot guaranteeany readings taken on these floors.

The cleaning process
The cleaning process is primarily dependant on four factors of the so-called “Sinner’scher
Kreis”. Cleaning tools and auxiliary materials are selected in consideration of these factors.
Furthermore, the nature of the surface to be cleaned determines the cleaning methods
employed.

First the cleaning process is initiated through the help of active agents in the detergent.
Active agents ensure that the bonding forces are neutralized, so that the loose contami-
nants as well as the bonding contaminants can be removed. The water content serves in
this regard as a carrier substance for transporting the contaminants.
Time
This factor represents the period between the application of the detergent or the cleaning
bath and the take up of the dirt bath. In cleanrooms this factor can be almost disregarded, because on the one hand, a far lesser accumulation
of dirt can be expected compared to industrial flooring: on the other hand, based on the surface condition, often the wet wiping method is
used for cleaning.
Temperature
Certain types of contamination can be more effectively loosened with warm water rather than with cold water.
Mechanical
Through the use of optimal mechanical action, it is possible to reduce the start up time and thus accelerate the cleaning process. This factor
can be disregarded based on the “low” contamination. Only a manually attached mechanical action is employed with the wiping process
to keep possible particle generation or turbulence as low as possible.

Industrial cleanroom vacuums are for supplementing and supporting the central “internal
vacuum system”.
The product range includes high-performance vacuums and accessories for various require-
ments and applications. Whether wet, moist or dry contaminants, even chemically critical
or explosive substances – we offer a suitable solution.
Our product range offers: Mini-Vacuums (hand devices /carrying devices)
 Dry Vacuums
 Wet / Dry Vacuums
Devices for EX areas and vacuums for permanent operation are available upon request.
The suction capacity
Optimal suction power of cleanroom vacuums is achieved through perfect interplay of
motor, air flow through the devices and the position of the efficient, vertical filter bag.
The suction power is regulated in two speed levels.
Suction capacity of over 40 liters per second confirms the perfect interplay of motor and
fan at a low noise level.
FiltrationThe most important parameter of the cleanroom vacuums is the collection of ultra fine
particles or residues generated from the recovered materials, contaminants or /and from
the motor.
This is carried out with the help of:
ULPA filter Efficiency: 99,999%
(Ultra Low Penetration Air) on particles as small as 0.12 micron
HEPA filter Efficiency: 99,999%
(High Efficiency Particulate Air) on particles as small as 0.3 micron
Basically we use the high performance ULPA filter for the cleanroom models.
Due to the speed level, the ULPA filter becomes at the highest suction level a HEPA filter.
The filtration (4- or 5-stage) and the filter position are model dependant.
The vacuum cleaners are suitable for cleanroom class ISO 4.

Quality, together with health and safety, are also priorities for seating, especially when the immediate environment must be clean and sterile
or when static charging is to be avoided.
Various cleanroom chairs are available for the different applications. Our complete range of cleanroom chairs is excellently suited to clean-
room requirements. Their suitability has been checked and documented by the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology.
The high quality of the chairs, including minimal particle emission and reliable elimination
of electrostatic charges, are proved by countless series of tests as well as daily experience.

Technical Features
Sealed padding, foam injectedThe artificial leather, padding and padding cover are permanently attached
together to minimize particle emissions.
Enclosed mechanismAll moving parts of the chair are enclosed within seat and backrest.
Particle emission is reliably minimized.
Cleanroom compatible materialsThe base of the seat and the backrest cover are made from sheet steel. They are abrasion-
proof. The electrically conductive leather upholstery can easily be cleaned and is non-slip
even for smooth cleanroom clothing. The smooth surface impedes the deposition of
particle contaminants on the chair.
Base-pressure diecast aluminium, optionally on castors or slidersThe aluminium stand is highly polished, abrasion proof and electrically conductive. Instead
of double safety castors the chairs can optionally be fitted with conductive sliders for hard
surfaces.
Conductive to prevent electrostatic chargesCleanroom chairs are electrically conductive and provide reliable protection from electro-
static charging.
Ergonomic Features
Optionally backrest in permanent contact or synchron system
Permanent contactThe backrest continuously adjusts to the movement of the upper body and creates
a physiologically correct support of the main muscular and spinal parts.
Synchron systemThe synchron system allows a synchronised movement of seat and backrest und supports
the individual seating positions. This enables a relaxed musculature, intervertrebral discs are
effectively released, blood circulation is improved.

EQUIPMENT13Labster – the new chair for laboratories
The new chair stool collection labster is a bespoke specialist for sitting in laboratories or in
production areas in liefe science industries.
Labster has no sharp edges. A new, seamless design concept with rounded surface geometries
ensures absolutely clean lines. Microorganisms will find no nooks or crannies in which to
hide on Labster. All surfaces can be cleaned quickly and thoroughly. Labster’s new form itself
thus becomes the ideal function for work in a laboratory.
People who operate in laboratories often spend long hours with the upper part of their body
bent forwards, for example when pipetting or working at a microscope. Labster works with
them and offers permanent support at a healthy angle of 90° between the upper part of the
body and thighs. Because thanks to its special “work function” the backrest plus seat unit
flexibly adapts to the corresponding position of the body and permits ergonomic work in
postures that are typical for laboratories. All controls to adjust the seat height, seat tilt or
backrest are naturally integrated without seams into the body of the Labster.
The Labster family of products also includes a laboratory stool and laboratory standing aids
for special fields of use.
Surfaces and colors for backrest and seat Surface: leather substitute Skai
Colors: black, blue, grey, red, mint
Surface: integral foam
Colors: black, grey
Base:The base is designed like an opened umbrella to allow optimum cleaning. Its flat and compact
form means that it is not a stumbling block in the typically cramped working environment of
a laboratory.
Foot ringThe comfortable and large foot ring makes it easier for the user to adopt their sitting position
quickly and safely.

In addition to classic cleanrooms, local cleanrooms are also being installed. These achieve
cleanroom conditions in smallest areas and thus represent an economic alternative for
individual production sections.
All laminar flow hoods offered by basan work according to the principle of low-turbulance,
forced air flow. Using this principle an air current is introduced horizontally or vertically
through the working area of the cabinet. In the process the ambient air is introduced via a
pre-filter and flows over a high-performance suspension-substance filter horizontally or vertically into the work area as laminar flow current.
This air current captures the particles directly where they originate and transfers them without return flow away from the clean area via the
exhaust air duct. The decision for either horizontal or vertical flow should be based on the quantity and geometry of the items located in
the work area.
Laminar flow hoods prevent particle contamination when filling or packing products. Laminar flow hoods are installed over existing production
lines. Vertical flow modules can be mounted on mobile stands and thus moved between areas. Lateral conduction of the clean air flow and
shielding of the clean work area is achieved through PVC strip curtains or side panels.

COMPONENTS14 Desiccators
When storing highly sensitive components that have a tendency to corrode in a normal atmosphere or that must also be protected from
particles, nitrogen-ventilated storage systems should be used. The storage takes place in a low-oxygen atmosphere. Usually nitrogen is
flushed permanently into the chambers which thins and replaces the oxygen atmosphere.
For storing components and material that may be exposed to a normal atmosphere, but which must also be stored dust-free and thus
protected from contamination, we recommend the use of desiccators without nitrogen flooding.
When storing DC sensitive components, the individual chambers or the entire storage shelf system are manufactured of conductive acrylic
glass with conductance resistance of 107 W/cm. Optionally volume-conducting plastic inserts of synthetic rubber are available to eliminate
potential differences.
The major advantage of acrylic glass is the all-round transparency which enables specific access to the stored parts. Acrylic glass is particle
free and also resistant to many cleaning agents.

Ionization
Ionizing neutralizes electrostatic charges, which occur through the friction or separation of
two materials. In the process an exchange of electrons takes place, this means that in one
material electron surplus prevails (negative charge) in the other material there is a lack of
electrons (positive charge).
For human beings electrostatic charges as well as discharges are generally harmless. However,
in the course of production, disturbances can happen when contaminating particles are
attracted by electrostatically charged surfaces.
Various devices are used appropriate according to the area or product being ionized:
 Overhead Ionizers
 Benchtop Ionizers
 Ionizing Air Guns
