Thanksgiving Overture by: Bil Curry

September is the beginning of football season. Music with Life in Lincoln, NE., decided to have a tailgate luncheon prior to our meeting and Husker Red was the color of the day. We all enjoyed singing There Is No Place Like Nebraska. We even had a cheerleader among the group to lead the cheers and song. After our meeting we enjoyed Friends Playing for Friends.

Set to the tune of the William Tell Overture, this is a fun song to share with your family and friends this holiday season. American Greetings has a wonderful animated eCard which you can email to your friends & relatives for Thanksgiving. Go to Lowrey.com for a link to the eCard and hear the song.

Here’s the setup: Style: Classic Western is perfect. Also: 8-Beat Rock and Opener (Broadway) work really well with the song. Tempo: 120 (+/-) Don’t go too fast or you won’t be able to sing or say all the lyrics. Style Setup: 0 (Normal or Vintage) Make sure the lower sounds are not too loud.

When using the Classic Western style: Use Intro 1 to start the song.End with Ending 1 (turn OFF any Harmony).Wait for the Ending to start and force the notes at the repeat (lyrics “holiday”) and listen to make the last line fit.

Note: With everyone gathered around your Lowrey to sing along you do not have to play the melody, just change the chords.
