LIEUTENANT COLONEL ALDEIY ALDERSON ROYAL MARINES
COMMANDING OFFICER COMMANDO LOGISTIC REGIMENT ROYAL MARINES
Aldeiy Alderson joined the Royal Marines in 1996 and has served across the Corps and
other Services. Following Young Officer training in 1997 he served as a Troop Commander
in Comacchio Group, 42 Cdo, 40 Cdo and at CTCRM. These roles included guarding tasks,
patrolling South Armagh, being an Intelligence Officer in West Belfast and training both
Recruits and Officers. The highlight of this initial period was returning to 42 Cdo as OC
Equipment Support Troop during Operation TELIC 1.
After attending staff college and promoting to Major in 2005 he served as an Adjutant in 45
Cdo, briefly in NPT(RM) and then with the Royal Navy FOST team in Plymouth as an
Amphibious Warfare staff officer. After a UN posting as the MA to the Divisional Chief of
Staff in Darfur he served as Chief of Staff 101 Logistic Brigade from 2008-10, including an
Op HERRICK 11 tour with JFSp(A) in Camp Bastion, Afghanistan. He then returned to 40
Cdo as the Unit 2IC in Sangin for Op HERRICK 12 and from 2012 served as SO1 RMR in
NCHQ. He attended Australian Staff College in 2014 before being appointed as the Corps
Drafting Officer to lead the Royal Marine Career Managers. He served as DCOS of 3 Cdo
Bde RM from Jan 2017 before taking command of the Commando Logistic Regiment in Mar
2018.
He has a keen interest in reading, military logistics and personnel management and is
currently undertaking a part-time Masters in Human Reources Management with Plymouth
University. A good day at work involves whiteboarding a solution, enabling a subordinate’s
ideas and linking a team member to the job they want. A good phys session looks like being
beaten (just) at squash or running a good distance over rough ground.
