As part of the sales contract with Oracle, what products you can install and use and how you use them is part of the licensing agreement. That agreement contains information related to your overall PeopleSoft application license. This document contains licensing notes and reminders intended more for product implementation teams to help determine if additional products need to be licensed to achieve the ultimate goals of the PeopleSoft system.

Note. Where third party products are discussed, in most cases no specific version number is

mentioned, as these can change due to product updates outside the Oracle release cycle.

You should always consult the Product Certifications area on My Oracle Support to determine

what product versions are supported with your version of PeopleTools.

Licensing Notes

The following table contains licensing notes and reminders per product in alphabetical order.

Product Sub Product Licensing Description

All License Codes Oracle PeopleSoft installs all products with your PeopleTools and PeopleSoft application installation. Activate the products you have purchased after you create the database, install the application server, and install PeopleSoft Internet Architecture.

1. Log in to PeopleSoft.

2. From the Products tab, select Set Up xxx (where xxx is your

application), Install, Installation Table.

3. De-select the products for which you have not obtained a license.

Deselecting the products from the Installation Table does not automatically remove access by your users of these applications. The license code used when you installed is the generic license code that allows access to all modules.

There are two ways that you can remove access to unlicensed product pages:

Create new permission lists and roles that only allow access to certain

pages. Works well for sites with a relatively small user base

Deactivate the pages in the portal navigation, by selecting Portal

Structure and Content and remove the products from the navigation. If

the pages are inactive then only PeopleSoft or Portal administrator

roles will have access. Woks well for customers only needing to

inactivate a small number of pages and they know the pages to

inactivate.

Select the option that best suits your site or requires less work.

Application Server

Oracle Tuxedo The Oracle Tuxedo license included with PeopleTools is a restricted use license that may only be used to run PeopleSoft applications. The use of this Tuxedo license outside of the scope of PeopleSoft applications is not permitted.

COBOL Micro Focus and IBM COBOL Compilers

A COBOL compiler is required by some PeopleSoft applications. Customers may choose either an IBM compiler that would be separately licensed from IBM, or a Micro Focus compiler that is separately licensed through Oracle.

Cube Builder Essbase Essbase is shipped separately from PeopleTools (there are separate licensing components for the integration and the end-user product).

Integration Broker

Oracle BPEL Process Manager

Oracle BPEL Process Manager is a standards-based process

orchestration and integration solution that provides the foundation for

developing and deploying a services-oriented and web service-

enabled integrations. The Oracle BPEL Process Manager provides

native support for BPEL 1.1 in combination with broad web service

standard support to ensure interoperability with other BPEL and Web

Service compliant solutions.

The Oracle BPEL Process Manager Developer Edition provides

restricted design time use. Runtime use requires purchase of BPEL

Process Manager. It is recommended that you check your Oracle

PeopleSoft license agreements to see if you are licensed to use

Oracle BPEL Process Manager for runtime purposes. If you are

licensed to use this product, you may download it from the Oracle web

site.

Note. PeopleSoft Integration Broker includes all necessary

components for XML mapping/XSL transformation. You are

not required to be licensed for BPEL runtime use in order to

utilize this functionality.

Integration Broker

Oracle Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)

Oracle ESB moves data among multiple endpoints, both within and outside of an enterprise. It uses open standards to connect, transform, and route XML documents among disparate applications. Enterprise service bus infrastructure is used for delivering service-oriented architecture (SOA).

PeopleTools supports Oracle ESB. Design time requires JDeveloper. The runtime for ESB requires the Oracle SOA suite. It is recommended to make sure you are licensed to use Oracle SOA Suite.

Integration Broker

Oracle XSL Mapper Your PeopleTools license grants you a design-time use license of the Oracle XSL Mapper. This tool provides the ability to rapidly create XSL-based transformation maps to support integration of PeopleSoft to third-party applications deployed through Integration Broker. The Oracle XSL Mapper is a component of Oracle BPEL Designer and is included in Oracle JDeveloper, which is available at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/index.html

MultiChannel Framework

PeopleSoft CTI If you are using a Cisco CTI system with the PeopleSoft CTI Java applet console, the assumption is that you already have a functioning and appropriately licensed Cisco system configured at your site. The Cisco Java API is shipped as part of the CTI applet; however, no other Cisco products are shipped with the PeopleSoft system.

If you use Cisco CTI, you need a Cisco ICM Central Controller Server installed and configured before you begin installing your PeopleSoft CTI system.

Your PeopleSoft application may require an IVR supported by Cisco and capable of passing call data to Cisco. This enables CTI components to attach data to incoming calls.

Optimization Framework

IBM ILOG CPLEX A subset of features in IBM’s ILOG CPLEX product is bundled with PeopleTools and included free of cost. These libraries constitute core elements of PeopleSoft’s Optimization Framework. No license is granted to use the ILOG libraries for any other purpose. To utilize ILOG CPLEX or the ILOG CPLEX API directly would require a license obtained directly from IBM.

Oracle Database Server

Transparent Database Encryption (TDE)

PeopleTools supports and provides integration with Oracle Transparent Database Encryption (TDE) technology.

TDE is a separately licensed product. TDE is bundled with Oracle Advanced Security Options (ASO).

PeopleCode BPEL Classes Your PeopleTools license grants you a design time use license of the

Oracle BPEL Process Manager for OC4J. The Oracle BPEL Process

Manager is a standards based process orchestration and integration

solution that provides the foundation for developing and deploying a

service oriented and web service enabled integrations. The Oracle

BPEL Process Manager provides native support for BPEL 1.1 in

combination with broad web service standard support to ensure

interoperability with other BPEL and Web Service compliant solutions.

The Oracle BPEL Process Manager Developer Edition provides

restricted design time use. Runtime use requires purchase of BPEL

Process Manager. It is recommended that you check your Oracle

PeopleSoft license agreements to see if you are licensed to use

Oracle BPEL Process Manager for runtime purposes. If you are

licensed to use this product, you may download it from the Oracle web

site.

Your PeopleTools license grants you a design-time use license of the

Oracle XSL Mapper. This tool provides the ability to rapidly create

XSL based transformation maps to support integration of PeopleSoft

to third party applications deployed through Integration Broker. The

Oracle XSL Mapper is a component of Oracle BPEL Designer and is

included in Oracle JDeveloper.

Note. PeopleSoft Integration Broker includes all necessary

components for XML mapping/XSL transformation.

Customers are not required to be licensed for BPEL runtime

use in order to utilize this functionality.

Performance Monitor

PPMI API Using web service technology, performance data that is generated by the Performance Monitor can be shared with third-party performance-monitoring tools by way of the Performance Monitor Integration (PPMI) API which uses the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP). The PPMI API protocol is not documented in PeopleBooks and is not intended for customer use. The API is made available for licensed members of the Oracle Partner Network to develop solutions that can be integrated with the PeopleSoft Performance Monitor.

and configure PeopleSoft unified navigation.

PeopleSoft Interaction Hub Branding Framework - Facilitates branding

Portal Features

Embedded PeopleTools Portal Technology

As a licensee of PeopleTools, you are authorized to use the following basic “portal” functions included within the base PeopleTools product:

Personalize and customize the application homepage.

Create homepage tabs in the PeopleTools database.

Use the PeopleSoft Pagelet Wizard to create pagelets and publish

Reporting Crystal Reports/Business Objects Enterprise

As of July 1, 2011, Oracle will no longer distribute or provide a license to Crystal Reports or Business Objects Enterprise for use with PeopleSoft applications. New customers that have purchased PeopleSoft products on or after July 1, 2011 and wish to use Crystal Reports and Business Objects Enterprise with PeopleSoft must contact SAP directly in order to secure the appropriate licensing rights.

Prior to July 1, 2011, customers that have purchased PeopleSoft applications may continue to use the Crystal Reports and Business Objects Enterprise licenses they have received with their previously purchased PeopleSoft products, as well as with any subsequent PeopleSoft modules/applications purchased after July 1, 2011.

Reporting Oracle BI Publisher for PeopleSoft (formerly XML Publisher for PeopleSoft)

A subset of features in Oracle BI Publisher is bundled and included at no additional cost with PeopleTools. These features are used by PeopleSoft applications to implement online and scheduled reporting functionality. Customers may use this functionality to create custom reports or to modify delivered reports without requiring the purchase of a separate license for the full-suite Oracle BI Publisher product. Custom or modified reports are limited to data that resides within the licensed PeopleSoft application. No license is granted to use these features for any other purpose. No license is provided to use the full-suite Oracle BI Publisher product.

Oracle Secure Enterprise Search

Restricted Use: Oracle Secure Enterprise Search solely for use with licensed PeopleSoft applications.

Search Engine

Verity A subset of features in Autonomy product Verity VDK is bundled and included free of cost. It is used by PeopleSoft applications to implement free text search functionality. No license is granted to use it for any other purpose.

To spider HTTPS links while building a search collection, a separate license needs to be obtained directly from Autonomy.

Security PGP Algorithms The PGP® secure messaging algorithms are available when you

license the PGP encryption library from PGP Corporation, compile the

glue code, and load the library into the PET database.

Use of the PGP® encryption functionality accessible through the

PeopleTools PGP® plug-in requires a specific license grant from PGP

Corporation. Contact [email protected] to inquire about

purchasing the required license.

Confirm with PGP Corporation that the PGP SDK is supported on your

platform.

Web Server Oracle WebLogic Restricted Use: Oracle WebLogic Server Enterprise Edition is supplied with Oracle PeopleSoft PeopleTools and some Oracle PeopleSoft applications for use in the PeopleSoft products. As an Oracle PeopleSoft customer, you are granted a restricted use license of Oracle WebLogic Server Enterprise Edition to run PeopleTools or the applicable applications at no additional cost.
