This is a selected bibliography of basic materialand equipment useful in supporting the NURSINGcurriculum. Originally, it was prepareriETEtof the documentation sent to a state Board ofNursing Education and Nurse Registratioa. It isnot intended to be a comprehensive or completelisting of all subject matter in the various fieldsrelated to NURSING. Rather, it is limited to majorresources particularly useful to the NURSINGstudent, and which should be considered for initialpurchase when setting up a NURSING program. Thecollection provides an exceiriaPoundation oflibrary resources on which to build.

Included are books, pamphlets, periodicals,filmstrips, film loops, audio-tapes, and equipment.Most of the books `are listed in BOOKS 15 PRINT andare available from publishers or jobbers. Thelatest edition (not necessarily the edition or datestated herein) should always be requested whenordering. Need for multiple copies of certaintitles is a matter left to the Nursing Schoolfaculty.

Back volumes of many NURSING journals are availableon microfilm. It is recommended that a five-yearbacklog (at least) be purchased to serve the needsof student research. Back volumes of indexes shouldalso be purchased. Sources of non-book materialsrelative to the field of NURSING are quite numerous.A selected listing of producers such materials isgiven at the end of each bibliography. Major sourcesof nursing and medical books is given in the finalsection.

The total cost estimate given for the resourceslisted is a conservative one. Prices for books andequipment are continually on the increase, which meansthe costs stated are not always accurate.

No effort has been made to describe procedures fororganizing and classifying resources. This is amatter left for the librarian to decide. A listingof library manuals available on the subject ofprocessing non-book materials is given on the lastpage of this booklet.
