Beautiful Libraries
A children's library has been built in San Vicentedel Raspeig, Spain which has a 6 story vertical gar-
den. The plants are in cubic containers which are
between two metal grids. The containers are able
to be accessed from corridors which run behind
the garden, so that they can be replanted or
tended to as necessary.
The staff of the SDRC Library Service would like to wish you all a very safe and happy holi-
day season.
The libraries will close for the holidays at 3pm on Christmas Eve, and will reopen at 10 am
on Thursday the 2nd of January, 2014. The return shutes will be closed during this time,
however no books will fall due over the holidays.
This sculpture is the entrance to a public library
in Cite lu livre (Aix en Provence), France.

Vale Tom Clancy
Tom Clancy recently passed away
at the age of 66. He was well
known for his espionage and mili-tary thriller novels with seven-
teen bestsellers to his name.
There are over 100 million copies
of his novels in print.
Toms first novel, The Hunt for
Red October was published in 1984. Clancy had wanted to sell 5 000 copies,
and ended up selling 45 000. After President Reagan complimented the
novel, sales were boosted with 300 000 hardbacks and over 2 million paper-
back copies sold.
Some of his other well known titles are Patriot Games, Clear and Present Dan-
ger and The Sum of Fears. All of these have been made into films with Harri-
son Ford, Alec Baldwin and Ben Affleck playing Clancys most famous charac-
ter Jack Ryan. His other main character, John Clark, has been played by Liev
Schreiber and Willem Dafoe.
Tom once said in a New York Times interview, Ive
made up stuff thats turned out to be real, thats the
spooky part.
A new Tom Clancy novel Command Authority is
planned for publication on
December 2, 2103.
The library is the place for children
and teenagers to be over the
school holidays. The Summer
Reading Club for 2013/2014 has a
theme of Investigate and there
will be activity packs, treasure
hunts and school holiday craft ac-
tivities on in both the
Warwick and Stan-
thorpe branches.
The Councils Stanthorpe Commu-
nity Contact team has been work-
ing out of the library for the last
couple of months while renovations
are being done on their building.
We would like to thank everyone
for their patience during all this
time. Signs are up indicating where
to put returns as well as any other
changes.

were perfectly normal, thank you very much.
2. Dear friend, I am writing to you because she said you listen and under-
stand and didnt try to sleep with that person at that party even though
you could have.
3. On the first Monday of the month of April, 1625, the market town of
Meung, in which the author of Romance of the Rose was born, appeared
to be in as perfect a state of revolution as if the Huguenots has just
made a second La Rochelle of it.
4. It was love at first sight
5. Christmas wont be Christmas without any presents, grumbled Jo,
lying on the rug.
6. Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the
western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded yellow sun.
7. Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again
8. It was a pleasure to burn.
9. When he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly bro-
ken at the elbow.
10. The great fish moved silently through the night water, propelled by
short sweeps of its crescent tail.
Have you always wanted to try an eReader? Maybe you have one on
your Christmas list but would like to try one out first. The SDRC Library
Service has two sets of Kindles which are preloaded with around thirty
titles of varying genres. These can be borrowed for a four week period.
You will find them under eReader on the library catalogue or you can ask
the staff at your local library.
