How to check out library eBooks to Kindle 1. Access

http://houstonlibrary.org/downloads, and click on “Overdrive Digital Media Catalog” link.

2. Click on “Advanced Search”, and

then enter proper information to search for an eBook for Kindle.



How to check out library eBooks to Kindle 3a. If an eBook is not available, you can click on “place a hold” to hold this eBook.

3b. If an eBook is available, click on “add to cart” next to the Kindle edition.

5. Select “Houston Public Library”

from the drop down list.

card number , and click on “Sign In”

7. Click on “Confirm Check Out”

9. At this point, the Amazon website will popup, click on “Get library book”

your existing Amazon.com account -- or create a new account if you currently do not have one.

11. Select the device to which you would like to download your eBook, and then click on “Continue” button.

A message will appear to confirm that the eBook has been delivered to your Kindle (to download library eBooks wirelessly, you must be connected to a Wi-Fi network.)

12. Turn on your Kindle. The eBook you just checked out will automatically sync with your device.



How to transfer Kindle ebooks to Kindle via USB cable (Windows 7) Certain eBooks are not available for wireless delivery. In these cases, you can transfer Kindle eBook from Windows 7 to Kindle via USB using the following instructions.

When you see a Kindle eBook that states “Kindle devices via USB only”, after step 11, please use the following instruction to transfer to your Kindle.

12. Click “Save”, and then click “Open

Folder” on the popup windows:

13. Connect the Kindle to your PC using

the USB cable, then double click on Kindle drive, you will see “documents” folder

and the downloaded eBook will now appear on your Kindle

When you see a Kindle eBook that states “Kindle devices via USB only”, after step 11, please use the following instruction to transfer to your Kindle.

12. Click “Show in Folder” icon, you will see the downloaded eBook in the new windows

using the USB cable, then double click on Kindle drive, you will see “documents” folder.

14. Drag the downloaded eBook and drop it onto “documents” folder

How to return Kindle library ebooks Kindle library eBooks will be automatically returned at the end of the lending period. Items can be returned prior to that date using the following instructions.

1. Access Amazon.com 2. Click on “Manage Your Kindle” from

the drop down menu on the right hand side of the screen.

3. Sign in with your Amazon

account.



How to return Kindle library ebooks 4. Select “Return this book” from the “Action” drop down menu next to the eBook you want to return.

5. Click on the “Yes” button to confirm the return
