The city of L'Hospitalet has 12.5 square kilometers, is located on the coastal flat and belongs to the Catalan region of Barcelona, between the municipalities of Barcelona, Esplugues, Cornell and Prat, and the left bank of the river Llobregat.

History of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat

The name "L'Hospitalet" in Catalan "little hospital", comes from the hospital for the poor, a shelter in which charity was practiced and welcomed travelers, which was built in the late twelfth century by the Torre Blanca. This house was beside the road, the Via Augusta, away from the church of Santa Eulalia de Provençana, on the edge with Cornell. The town was consolidated from the thirteenth century around the hospital and not around Provençana church. The transfer of the parish known as core Pobla del Hospital was approved in 1426.
