According to “The Inside Story” for LFCS, 2013-2014, several defining moments have shaped the history of LFCS of Missouri:
The first came when God acted to create the orphan’s home for children in the wake of the Civil War.
The orphanage was sold 99 years later, and the proceeds used to create an endowment that has strengthened and sustained LFCS for the past 33 years.
What began as one man’s desire to care for an orphaned child has grown into one of the largest and most respected private social service agencies in Missouri
In the 1960’s, orphanages were being phased out and foster care was being phased in. In 1971 LFCS had a budget of $370,000 and 15 employees. In 2013, LFCS had a budget of $13.4 million and 180 employees.)
