Dear Reader,

Welcome to the first edition of 2013, hope you have had a great start to the year. This edition is packed with great articles and helpful ways to make some positive changes into your routines; if you do manage to apply any of these or try some of the holistic therapies do write in and share.

I would like to draw your attention to p12 where Heather Andrew-Dobbs has organised a Fayre with all raffle proceeds going to the Haven House Children’s Hospice. Heather is a metaphysical teacher, practitioner and writer; she has received the Golden Heart International Inspiration Award three times. Some books for you to read if you would like an opportunity to get to know your guardian angel p23, great competition from the Picturehouse p4.

As usual you are all invited to write in giving feedback whether positive or not, this is local community magazines therefore share what you like. A bit of an experimental article on p18 Spiritual warfare, so if you have tried everything to resolve a problem and nothing is working then you may want to try the experimentation…after all what have you left to lose?

£20 competition only requires you to send in your name, address and where you picked up the copy of Leyton Life from. Email:[email protected] £20 in subject field postal entries or if you wish to text info on the left.

Wishing you all the best in all you may be celebrating in Jan-Feb till next time take care.

Yasmin Allen

Valentine’s Day is one of the most notable days of the year with billions of pounds being spent worldwide on cards, gifts and flowers.Red roses champagne and chocolates will be the order of the day for a classic romantic.

Valentine’s Day is for celebrating love and romance and bestowing gestures to that special someone. Many couples will go out for an intimate candle lit meal. Some will even take a trip away retreating to a romantic destination. Others will unwind in the comfort of their home ensuring the evening is extra special. Let’s not forget Valentine’s Day has always been a popular date for marriage proposals and tying the knot.

Romance plays a key part on February 14 this in turn could bring to mind a wide variety of emotions as well as expectations.

14th February A Day for Romantics

HistoricRomanticsLooking back throughout the decades there’s been numerous couples who have been remembered for their romanticism.

These romantic fuelled relationships have made a firm mark in history.

For some couples there were tough and turbulent obstacles to climb with unfortunate tragic consequences.

Indeed the abrupt ending to some of these relationships was harsh, but it does illustrate to us the extremity of love and its boundless limit.

Romeo and Juliet – William Shakespeare story of forbidden love which ends in the ultimate

sacrifice as they end their own lives. Cleopatra and Mark Anthony – An Egyptian queen and Roman general, a passionate relationship that concludes in lies and tragedy.

Shah Jahan – Emperor of India from 1628 – 1658 built the Taj Mahal to honour the passing away of his beloved wife.

King Edward V111and Mrs Simpson - The king abdicated to marry, it’s a love story which at the time was described as scandalous

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton - Actors who married each other twice they are said to have had one of the most intense relationships.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono – Known for their inseparable all-consuming closeness

“Quite apart from the political and military conflict in Israel/Palestine – which any politician of a decent heart and sound conscience will feel duty-bound to resolve for the good of all concerned – a proposal to construct a military installation of any description on the Mount of Olives is both provocative and deeply upsetting to three major faith groups and to countless others who yearn for peace and justice.Anyone with an understanding of what this place represents will surely recognize that the pro-posal is deeply flawed. I hope that it will be quickly reconsidered”...The Mount of Olives is of deep spiritual significance to Christians, Muslims and Jews. It is the site of Jesus’ arrest by the Roman authorities, and his later ascension to heaven. In Jewish teaching, this is where the resurrection of the dead will begin when the Messiah comes. According to Is-lamic tradition, a bridge will connect the Mount of Olives and the Dome of the Rock mosque at the end of days. You can read the full statement from the following link; at the time of going to print there were no further developments. It is definitely time for divine intervention. What do you see, a piece of highly contentious land or a spiritual sight where the three major religions share some common ground? Whatever your views about this subject please write in and share.

Welcome to 2013 Britain:

Where people are having to walk miles in order to receive hand-outs from various food banks, in order to feed themselves and their families.

Where people unable to borrow money from legitimate banks and building societies turn to loan sharks, those unable to keep up with the extortionate payments could get into a life of crime, or face physical or mental harm.

Where a Bank can legitimately charge higher interest rates to their customers, despite the bank of England keeping their rates as low as possible. Where Banks no longer give additional monies to their mortgagors, at the same rate as their mortgages but offer loans at higher rates. Where first time buyers will never be able to purchase a home unless they are, left a handsome legacy by a loved one.

Where more and more companies pay a minimum wage, rather than a fair wage, and cut their employees terms, conditions and other benefits.

Where people’s incomes are unable to meet their very basic needs, this is not because of the purchasing of designer goods or high end brands.

Where health care professionals are no longer able to provide care for their patients, but treat each patient as a “product”

Where those performing Liverpool Care Pathway (LCP) are given financial incentives per patient, euthanasia through the back door.

Where people only come forward after the death of an individual, with their own horror stories. Surely preventative measures could have been placed, to minimise extent of abuse. Sometimes what we don’t do is just as powerful as what we do.

We may be moving rapidly forward technologically, but in other matters we as a nation are moving behind our Western counterparts, and in some sectors becoming more like 3rd world countries.

Children are being born into a hopeless system, where their parents are being pushed from pillar to post. Controlled by institutional red tape, and bureaucracy which penalises legitimate individuals from progressing. Those who abuse the system, carry on finding loopholes, and are prepared to do the time, as their benefits appear to outweigh the punishment.

How can changes be made, is there light at the end on the tunnel, where is the end of the tunnel? Questions, questions and not many answers.

Is there a quick fix?According to Rachel Hickson a group of Pastors in Haringey, decided to see what the prayer needs (solutions) were for their community.

School authorities requested for significant improvement in the schools performances, and the schools finances. Their request was granted and nine months later the council began sending further request, for various areas of their community which were in need of divine intervention.

Could “prayer” really be the answer, if so why do so many prayers go unanswered I hear you asking. If there is a “God” then why do bad things keep happening, why do innocent people keep getting hurt. People dying of incurable cancers and diseases.

I don’t know how the system works but I know it does work. I don’t know why some prayers get answered and others don’t.

But there is enough evidence out there to support praying does work.

There are so many individuals who spend endless time praying for the good of their community, for strangers in their homeland and foreign lands. There is a definite shift in the air, spiritual warfare is real.

Where there is good there is evil, where there is light there is darkness.

Are you ready to try the prayer solution because you believe prayer works, or even as an experiment. If so write in and even if at this stage you just want a matter to be prayed for rather than pray, then please give specific requirements and your contact details so progress can be followed.

Just because science can’t always prove a

notion, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Science has been known to get things wrong!

Postal details on p2 if you want to email: [email protected] Please put “prayer” in the subject field. All requests will be treated with confidence. Examples may be used in future publications but this may be done without identifying individuals or organisations, unless of course authorisation is given.

Angels...There was positive response regarding the topic of Angels from the previous edition. Thank you to all that got in touch, it appears that people are aware and have experienced “something” in times of need where they may want some sort of guidance.

The most popular Angel appears to be the parking Angel, so next time you are driving in circles looking for a space ask for the parking angel to help.Angels are present in all faiths; It is important to know Angels are not a substitute for “God”, but a messenger or helper of God. Most Angel books make it very clear from the onset, that Angels are not to be prayed to but just asked for help. Angels are there to help each one of us, despite people having no religious beliefs.

If you are new to Angels then you will benefit from Angel Whispers by Jenny Smedley, the book will help you connect with your Guardian Angel, and learn how to use them in your daily lives.Angels in my Hair by Lorna Byrne, who is an international bestseller shows how Lorna who was labelled a retard managed to listen and follow the Angels instructions despite the odds. You follow her own personal trials and tribulations. Her other great books are Stairways to Heaven, which is more in-depth information about the unique bond between you and your guardian angels. A message of hope from the Angels, which has a great collection of examples of peoples experiences with their Guardian Angels and devotions dictated to Lorna by Angels.
