The Leyda Valley is one of Chile’s most
prestigious new wine producing regions,
garnering a wide variety of press recognition
and acclaim. As the sole D.O. located west of
the Chilean coastal mountain range, the area
is heavily influenced by the cool Humboldt
Current, experiencing one of the lowest
average maximum temperatures worldwide,
second only to Marlborough, New Zealand.
Despite the cool climate, a protective layer of
fog prevents frost; the ideal conditions for slow
maturation of grapes and stability in quality.
Exclusive access to a Maipo River pipeline
provides Viña Leyda with a rare water source,
unlocking the potential of this valley to yield
extremely high quality grapes. »
Viña Leyda is a premium winery and pioneer of the Leyda Valley, located to
the west of Chile’s cool, coastal mountain range. The name Leyda, a local
phrase meaning “the way”, derives from a historic train route to the Pacific
Ocean. The Leyda train station was once widely known throughout Chile as
the last stop before reaching the famous port of San Antonio and the
glamorous beaches of Santo Domingo. Today, it is “the way” to an incredible
wine experience!
All Leyda wines represent outstanding value
within their price segments, competing in
quality with wines at far greater prices.
Our Pinot Noir tasting profile is more French
than Californian — balanced, elegant and
harmonious — with typical varietal
characteristics in all tiers, ranging from fruity
and soft in the Leyda Line to elegant and
complex in the Single Vineyard & Lot range.
Our Sauvignon Blanc tasting profile lies
between New Zealand and France, ranging
from easy-drinking citrus fruit notes and
refreshing acidity in the Leyda Line, to
increased minerality and complexity in the
Single Vineyard & Lot range.
As founders of the Leyda Valley D.O., we are pioneers in the development of
cold climate Chilean varietals and the study of their micro-terroirs and
clonal selections. Our terroir-oriented wines are crafted in small batches to
reflect the individuality of each vineyard, garnering some of the highest
acclaim in all of Chile.

a juicy, lingering finish.
Bright ruby red in color. Clean and
fresh with ripe fruit on the nose;
raspberries, hints of red cherries

W H A T ’ S N E W A T V I Ñ A L E Y D A ?At Viña Leyda we are constantly seeking to improve the quality and value of our wines in every aspect, from the vine to the shelf.
Beginning with the 2014 vintage, our NEW 200 acre El Granito vineyard has
brought us even closer to the ocean, significantly enhancing the complexity
of our wines. Planted a mere 2.5 miles from the Pacific, this vineyard was
specifically designed for its cool proximity to the coast. A detailed soil study
was conducted to determine the ideal clonal selection for each lot, while
dense rows were planted at various angles to benefit from natural humidity
preventing wind patterns. Our new vines are yielding excellent grapes,
which have dramatically improved the style and depth of our wines for
years to come.
In addition to our latest vineyard, Viña Leyda has embarked on several
improvements in research and technology at the winery. Our bottling and
ageing now takes place at two NEWLY CONSTRUCTED facilities featuring
small volume fermentation tanks, allowing us to better monitor and achieve
greater control over the wines. Significant investments in our new
state-of-the-art filtration system, temperature controls and cooling
equipment ensure that every bottle of Leyda wine leaving the winery meets
our high standards.
Viña Leyda has also made substantial investments to our research facilities,
ensuring that we maintain superior and current knowledge of the Leyda
Appellation, including the soil varieties, clonal selections and irrigation
techniques.
Our new high quality screwcaps allow for micro-oxygenation and maintain
greater freshness of our wines. And last, but certainly not least, we’ve
invested in numerous environmental upgrades to reduce energy
consumption across all of our wine production.
Plus, we’re making a significant investment in the marketing tools for Viña
Leyda, including:
• Fresh new label designs
• Higher quality cartons
• Video series featuring winemaker Viviana Navarrete
• Updated point-of-sale support
• Dedicated regional activity
• Sales incentives
• Selling tools for all recent acclaim
Show your customers “the way” to an incredible wine experience with Viña Leyda!
