Endcode – Kgomoco Makobela – Tech Law & Policy Advisor

Kgomoco's love for technology law and innovation was ignited by a stint as a Trade Officer at the Israeli Trade and Economic Office, specializing in New Media and Broadcasting. Advising technology firms and start-ups on the South African market led to an interest in providing the same service to South African entities and individuals that were interested in expanding into the rest of Africa. This interest was fulfilled when she joined the South African Department of Science and Technology, as an Assistant Director within the Multilateral Cooperation and Africa Directorate. During her time at the Department, she was exposed to STI policies in Africa and developed relations between South Africa and other African countries, on issues such as ICT, Space Science, Biotechnology, Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Intellectual Property.

Kgomoco is interested in providing advisory services and training to public and private sector organisations as well as Pan African entities, on issues such as Research, Development and Innovation (RDI), Intellectual Property Rights (particularly Patents), Social Media, Competition, Consumer protection and E-commerce. She hopes to use her experience within the public sector to contribute towards Endcode being the leading legal and policy advisory firm in Africa.
