Taoist Teaching

04/10/2023 6

People usually fail when they are on the verge of success. So… give as much care at the end as at the beginning, and then there will be no failure.

Management Team: Wicked Mastermind

04/10/2023 10

Bryan Janeczko, Founder

“As the Wicked mastermind, I founded Wicked Start to help small business owners and early-stage entrepreneurs realize their dreams of starting a business.

I was raised in Wisconsin but moved to New York over 15 years ago, bringing with me a commitment to hard work, good humor but no cow-tipping – ever. I have over 15 years' experience in finance and entrepreneurship, successfully founding multiple businesses. Prior to Wicked Start, I co-founded Nu-Kitchen, an online food retailer, serving healthy & delicious prepared meals. Starting from the ground up in New York City, I built the company into a multimillion-dollar business serving influential residents & celebrities who helped solidify NuKitchen’s reputation. In late 2008, I sold the business to Nutrisystem, a national weight-loss company.

I’ve devoted my life to small business and entrepreneurial growth and am a recognized expert in the field. Through my efforts in the non-profit world, I’ve been able to help build and grow businesses across this nation as an active board member of the Entrepreneur’s Organization (EO) and StartOut.”

Darlene Newman, Chief Technologista

“As the Wicked Start “Technologista,” my role is to make sure that the Wicked Start platform is providing you with the best experience – using the latest technology has to offer – so that you can successfully start a business.

From my earliest memories, I’ve been involved with entrepreneurial efforts, from the cliché neighborhood lemonade stand to programming games on my father’s computer. It was then that I first developed my love of technology. That’s why, from that moment on, I’ve been involved with leveraging cutting-edge technology to solve business problems. I’ve worked in Fortune 500 companies to oversee large-scale technology implementations to enhance profitability, and I’ve spent the past 12 years working with early stage & new businesses to take advantage of all that technology has to offer.

In 2003, I received the SBA’s National Phoenix Award by a Volunteer and was inducted into the University of Arizona’s Entrepreneur Hall of Fame. I’m inspired by my parents, who somehow have always managed to find time for each other while raising six kids. I'm also inspired by Muhammad Yunus, who truly understands how to empower people to create their own economic opportunities.”

Wicked Start Success Story: Starting A Concierge Service

04/10/2023 12

Julie Subotky was making a living in the hospitality industry in Aspen, CO. As a self proclaimed ski-bunny, she loved being out in the open, breathing in that famously fresh mountain air day in and day out. Over time, however, Julie needed to make a shift in her life – to “get a real job,” as she recalled.

Leveraging her strengths as a go-to resource for getting things done for tourists and part-time residents, she started offering personal assistant services. After a year doing this, she realized that she could turn this into a real business. She thought about how to structure the business and realized that she could grow the business through word-of-mouth referrals and provide the initial startup funding herself. She made the decision to start Consider It Done. It was a calculated risk but she believed in her capabilities and soon her business was booming. “From babysitters to private jet charters to New Year's parties, everyone seems to have something that they don’t have time to do so we help them make it happen," Julie explained.

Wicked Start was on the critical path of her journey, helping her to plan and grow the business. Having a step by step process that was manageable and easy to follow was essential for success. Today, Consider It Done has grown into a million-plus dollar operation and is now located in New York. And, with a new born son, she couldn't be happier.
