Abstract
Hardware and software co‐design for embedded systems is evolving at a rapid pace. In this paper
embedded hardware options are reviewed as candidates for use in low Size Weight and Power LIDAR
systems, specifically 3D LIDAR. A research project is presented to complete this paper, which
demonstrates state of the art embedded hardware that provide a suitable solution to the challenges
faced in the applications discussed.
