CLASSIFICATION  OF  LIVING  THINGS  –  STUDENT  DIRECTIONS  1.  Color  the  name  of  the  level  of  classifica>on  and  the  appropriate  piece  of  the  triangle  to  match.    For

example,  color  the  widest  piece  of  the  triangle  and  the  word  “DOMAIN”  blue.    Star>ng  with  the  largest  piece  and  the  broadest  level  of  classifica>on  will  help  you  to  match  them  correctly.    Work  your  way  down  from  there.

2.  Cut  out  all  pieces  and  glue  them  to  the  empty  triangle.      3.  Write  the  defini>ons  for  “taxonomy”  and  “binomial  nomenclature.”  4.  Draw  a  downward  arrow  along  the  lem  side  of  the  triangle  and  label  it  “fewer  organisms”  to  indicate

that  the  farther  down  the  triangle,  the  fewer  the  organisms  in  each  level.  5.  Write  a  mnemonic  device  on  the  right  side  of  the  triangle  to  help  you  remember  the  levels  of

classifica>on  in  order.
