Shopping Street in Niagara On The Lake
If you are tired of boring place such as Welland, here is a
new place for you! It is not a mall, it is a shopping street.
Not far from Welland, but totally different place!
In Canada's wine country, Niagara-on-the-
Lake presents a well-preserved 19th-
century village and its charms. Drive or
bike through the area, stopping at wineries
and Fort George National Historic Site.
Ride along the Niagara Escarpment on
horseback or book a white-water adventure
at nearby Niagara Falls (you might have
heard of them).
Niagara-on-the-Lake, often called the pret-
tiest town in Ontario, has a long and distin-
guished history. Site of the old Neutral
Indian village of Onghiara, it was settled by
Loyalists coming to Upper Canada, and
renamed Niagara in 1798. With the excep-
tion of the powder magazine at Fort George
the town was virtually erased by the Ameri-
cans when they burned it down during the
war of 1812.
Since that time, the town has been histori-
cally preserved and is now teeming with an
abundance of antique shops and art galler-
ies, wonderful fine dining restaurants,
charming B&Bs and beautiful first class
hotels and country inns. Today, tourists
come to Niagara-on-the-Lake in droves to
experience all that Niagara-on-the-Lake has
to offer – world-class wineries, superior
dining, fresh organic produce, challenging
golf courses, picturesque scenery and fa-
mous theatre and festivals – all year round.
History is richly represented throughout
Niagara-on-the-Lake, but listed here are a
few places that will help you delve deeper
Niagara falls Entertainment complex
I went to Niagara falls on my first day of
college.
The falls was located between the
United States and Canada.
There were many people there to see
the falls, and there were also casino
and shopping center.
The name of the cruise ship, Maid of
the Mist was famous for going close to
Niagara Falls.
Many people could feel the falls well on
the ship.
I boarded the cruise ship.
We wore a raincoat not to get wet
because the ship went very close to
the falls.
When we approached the falls, the
wind rose and the water dropped
hard.
I felt the ship tossing on the waves.
It was totally different that I saw
outside of the ship.
The ship kept going closer and
closer to the falls, and I could feel
the falls well.

Maid of the Mist Trip to Niagara Falls. (July 3rd.)
We went to Niagara falls on July 3rd for our first school activity at Niagara college. In my case, I expected to
go there because I heard that it is one of the most popular historic places in Canada and also someone told
me there is a lot of things that I can enjoy such as riding a boat, shopping, casino and so on. When I hear that
we were going to Niagara falls, I was excited.
After lunch time, we gathered at the main entrance at 12 : 30. And then, we took a picture in front of the
school bus and all of the members get on the bus. It departed from the college toward the falls and Natalie
said a lot of information about school activities on July. Finally, we arrived at our destination. We visited the
Outlet mall before we go to ride the boat. There are a lot of stores that sell clothes, bags and wallets etc such
as Michael Kors, Coach and Nike and so on.
After looking around the mall, we went to Niagara falls. It was amazing because the falls are very wide and
for me, it was my first time to see a huge falls like this. Maybe, I can't forget this moment. We took a lot of
pictures. We went to take an elevator to ride the boat. We wore a raincoat not to get wet. We were able to
access close Niagara falls. The view from there was magnificent. We had free time for 1 hour so we looked
around the Falls and took a picture. At 5 : 00 pm we went back to school and broke up.

A night in
the Falls
See the fireworks.
July 12th.
We went to Niagara falls again at night for a school activity.
We got on the bus and we stopped at the On the lake
campus. I saw the winery on the campus. And then, we
arrived at Falls at 7 o' clock. Natalie said we could have free
time until 10 : 30. The street is full of a lot of stores and movie
theaters and there are a lot of tourists. At first, we went to
some stores and looking around in the mall. Stores are selling
some clothes, hats and some other souvenirs. But they were
not that cheap, a little bit expensive. We took a lot of pictures
and then, we went to the restaurant to eat something for
dinner. We were supposed to drink some beer but we couldn't
because we didn't bring our passport so we weren't able to
order beer and also we couldn't go to the Casino. We were
disappointed about that.
+
After dinner, we went to see the fireworks. And
we met a man who is very old and taking a picture
of Falls. He took a picture for us. And we had a
conversation with him and he gave his name card
and he said if we want to receive our picture, just
send an e-mail to him. I thought that he is very kind.
At 10 : 00 the fireworks started. It lasted for 10
minutes. Many people gave an exclamation and
took a picture of fireworks. It was very beautiful. The
display of fireworks was spectacular.

+ Enjoy swimming: July 4th.
My home-stay house has a big swimming pool
in the backyard. I was surprised when I first see
the pool because in Korea, most of the people
can't afford to have a pool in their house
because they usually live in apartment. My
home-stay mom Linda said that I can use it with
my friends freely whenever I want to enjoy
swimming. However I wasn't able to do since I
don't have any swimming suit now. I wanted to
take my swimming suit but I couldn't because
my lugguage was full of other clothes and some
other things. However, one day I was sleeping in
my room because I was very tired. In that time, I
got up suddenly because I heard that some
people called my name repeatedly. To be
honest, they were almost yelling. I was surprised
and went outside to know what happened in
the house. And then, I saw my home-stay family
and my friends who live near my house. My
home-stay family and Dyan who is my friends'
home-stay mom are swimming in the pool. I'd
like to just see them while sitting on the chair
near the pool but I couldn't. The reason is that
my friends pushed me into the water. Me and
my friends enjoy swimming with our home-stay
family. It was very exciting and cool. At first, I
think that I don't like swimming but it was really
fun. I said to my home-stay mom that I want to
try something new in Canada. So I decided to
learn swimming and riding a bicycle during my
summer holiday in Canada. It will be very fun
and rewarding.

We love
Tim
Holtons!
Going to there is very
common in Canada.
Because Tim Holtons’s
price is very reasonable.
And it is cheaper than
Korea’s, so many
Koreans miss it when
they come back to
Korea. Of course, do I.
Anyway we usually
there after lunch. In my
case, I don’t like drinking
coffee so I often drink
smoothie with Timbit.
Timbit is really delicious. I
like them. It is similar to
Korean donut store,
Dunkin donuts. But the
price of timbit is
cheaper and sweeter
than Korean’s. A small
cup of smoothie and 10
timbits is good for
dessert. We are delight
with them!
2 month that I can live
in Canada is left to me. I
enjoy all of Timholtons
from now on before I
come back to Korea.

Pencentre July 10th
+
At first when I went to pencentre, I thought it was a big mall because I had saw only the Seaway
Mall so far in Welland. Anyway my friend and I were very hungry at that time so we bought fried
chicken and coke at Zehrs market. It tasted good! Since we originally love chicken and it was first
to eat chicken in Canada. But there was one thing that was lacking. This chicken didn't have the
same taste like Korean's. However it was not important. We were already full:)
After we had it, we started looking around the shopping mall. What I remembered especially
were H&M and Bath& Body works. First, H&M is in Korea. As soon as I saw it, I had a feeling that I
was in Korea. Because I like its clothes, bags, accessories. But I didn't buy anything there. The
clothes looked big to me and there weren't products that caught my fancy. Second, what I had
an interest in was Bath& Body works. It doesn't exist in Korea. I didn't know about that. But my
friend said to me, " It is so popular to girls like us." I envied Canadians at that time. I think it's
common place in Canada. Then I bought body lotion, body mist and so on. I love it! Its smell is
sweet and very good. I am so happy to get it. I will use it well in Korea.
Also we went to the pencentre on last Wednesday as a school activity instead of hiking. But it
was the second time to go to the pencentre for us. Because my home-stay mom already had
brought us on Sunday(7th, July). So we decided to eat fried potatoes just do window-shopping.
Although we did only window-shopping and didn't buy anything it was funny day.

Theater
There is theater in the seaway mall. On Tuesdays the price
of movie is half. So most of people see a movie on Tuesday. I
went to the theater once. It is different from Korea. In Korea
we order movie and popcorn separately. But in here we
could order them together. It was so confusing. Anyway I
saw the world war Z. Of course, I watched it without subtitle.
So we could understand the movie using just picture.
Although it didn’t have subtitle, we could understand all of
story. I think we’re genius. The movie was so great. Anyway I
recommend that seeing a movie on Tuesday is good choice
for us.
Dollarama
It was first place where I had visited in Welland. My homestay
mom took me to there. There are most things we are using in
daily life. I bought shampoo, slipper, body wash and so on.
The Dollarama is very useful place. In Korea there is similar
place. Its name is daiso. I think it means there are everything
we need. Anyway I often don’t go there nowadays but I am
sure it is really necessary place for us.
Food court
In seaway mall there are some stores to eat. I went just one
place. I don’t remember its name. Anyway I ate potatoes,
maybe poutine. I’m not sure. It was so salty. I couldn’t eat it
without coke. By the way most of Canadian food is salty to
me. I think I am getting be accustomed. If I have an
opportunity I will challenge another food. I hope it is delicious
food, please.
SEAWAY MALL Every day, every time we are in there.

Various transportation in Canada
Trip of bicycle in Welland
Tip of using bicycle in Welland
In Canada, there are many transportation. For example,
we can utilize airplane, train, bus, car, bicycle, motor cycle,
taxi, boat and by foot. We utilized variable transportation.
When we went to Canada from Korean, We took an air-
plane. When we went to Niagara College from the To-
ronto pearson airport, we went by a car. When we went
to Niagara Falls, we went by a school bus. Also, we took a
boat to see the sights of Niagara Falls.
V a r i o u s t r a n s p o r t a t i o n i n C a n a d a
We usually utilize bicycle in Welland. If you have a bicy-
cle, you can go to anywhere. Since we have bicycles, we
are convenient to move anywhere., but you have to be
careful when you ride a bicycle.

First, DO NOT LISTEN TO MUSIC. If you ride a bicycle listening to music,
you don’t listen to sound a horn. You could happen a traffic accident.
Second, YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE BUTTON IN A CROSSWALK, if you
want to cross the road. In Korea, because a signal light is automatic,
whereas in Canada, whenever you cross the road, you have to push
the button, because a signal light is worked by hand.
Third, If you ride a bicycle at night, YOU HAVE TO ATTACH BICYCLE
TO SOMETHING to stick out like a sore thumb. Because It is very dark
and not much street lamps.
ALWAYS BE CAREFUL!!!!
July 3, Many students I and visited Niag-ara Falls. I always saw Niagara falls in a
textbook, Finally I saw them with my na-
ked eyes! When we arrived at Niagara
falls, we got off the school bus and lined
up Natalie. After a while, I saw a phrase,
“The Maid of the Mist.” We went in a long
tunnel through the entrance, and took an
elevator to the boat.
My friends and I said repeatedly, “WOW!” and we got on a boat. The
boat began to move quickly towards the falls. When I went to the falls, I
realized that the falls were total 3! I came close to the falls, I know the fact. It really wasn’t possible to describe it was beauty in words. The
day it’s very hot and sunny, but I was happy. And the mist was huge!
Niagara Falls in the background, My friends and I took many pictures, Many foreigners also did.
We looked around the falls, arrived at the marina, and we went long through tunnel the entrance, and took an elevator again. We’ve saw the
CASINO around Niagara falls. It was too hot, so we went to Starbuks near the falls. The time came to go back to the college, and we took a
bus back to college. It was a good experience.
HYANG-HEE LEE
July, 10th, I was planning to
go to St.Catharine with my
friends. We heard there is
the Korean food restaurant
in St.Catharine. We desired
t o e a t K o r e a n f o o d .
Information Tech-
After we finished the class, we got on the bus to go St.Catharine. Since we were planning to eat Korean food in supper, we saw the sights of st.Catharine. We took the picture with wayfarer who looked like musicians. Then, we went to Fairview. Fairview was very small shopping mall. So, we decided to go to Pencentre, after we would have supper. We began to search how to go to the restaurant. We didn’t know how to get there. So, we asked an employee in Fairview. We got on the bus to go to the restaurant. But the bus didn’t go to there. We took the bus in the wrong way. We got off the bus and walked for a long time. That day was very hot. We sweated profusely. We asked the way to go and arrived there at last. We ordered the various menus. It was very deli-cious. Bulgogi was the most delicious of all. After supper ended, we headed for Pencentre. Pencentre was very big shop-ping mall. We could not look around that place all that day. We decided to go to Pencentre again, next time.

Toronto & New York
First impression of Toronto was quite different from Welland. Modern and
Busy. A lot of high buildings and cars were and airplanes were taking off
and landing. It was as big as Seoul. Also, Toronto has a lot of sightseeing
place, so I thought I couldn’t see every popular place in one day. So I stayed
in Toronto 3 days (from 7/20 ~ 22). Fortunately, my uncle’s house was near
the Finch station, so I stayed at there, and saved the money. :D
This trip was quite challenging to me, because I traveled alone the place
that I haven never been to. So I experienced a lot of things like talking with
unknown people and did a lot of mistakes. A lot of episodes were in my trip.
From now, I will tell my Toronto trip’s route, experiences and TIPS!! :D I
wish my essay would be useful for you to make a plan to travel Toronto!
“Modern But Traditional ,
Busy But Relaxed”
Day 1
Old/New City Hall → Art gallery of Ontario → Roy Thomson
Hall → Harbourfront → Toronto Island → Financial district of
Toronto → CN Tower
1. Old/ New City Hall (★★★★☆)
Accessibility (★★★★★) : 5 minutes from Osgoode station (walk)
Photo zone (★★★★★)
Price (★★★★★) : Free!
The Toronto City Halls are hallmark of Toron-
to. To say frankly, there is no things to see except
taking photos with city
halls. However, we can
see the Canada’s old and
new architecture styles.
For reference, the old city
hall is Britain’s architec-
ture style.
In addition, if you go
to the city halls on week-
day, apply the city hall’s
inner tour in advance. Then you can learn more
things about Toronto in ENGLISH! :D
Toronto Transit Commission
To travel Toronto, you should take TTC subways and
buses to move. The fare is CAD 3 (adult fare). There is a
student fare, but only schools in Toronto students can use
the student fare!
TIP!
However, there’s the TTC Day Pass! It is only CAD 10.95 for all TTC in a
day. In addition, on weekend, two people can use one TTC Day Pass, so it is
practically half price.
And make sure that when you have to transfer, you should get a transfer
tickets like bellow pictures. When you take a bus, the bus drivers will give
you a transfer ticket, but when you take a
subway, you should get a ticket from ma-
chines.
Also, you may use the yellow subway
line to move. You should know that south-
bound stations from St. George to St. Clair
West are under construction. So you should
take a shuttle bus on those stations. It is
free and frequently comes!
2. Art gallery of ontario (★★★★☆)
Accessibility (★★★☆☆) : 15 minutes from city halls (walk)
Photo zone (★☆☆☆☆) : You cannot take a picture inside the gallery :(
Price (★★★☆☆) : CAD 12 if you have Niagara College’s student card
At Art Gallery of Ontario, there are
lots of European, Canadian and African
pictures and sculptures. I think the best
gallery is the modern European galley.
There are Pablo Picasso, Paul Gauguin,
Vincent Van Gogh, and my favorite
painter, Claude Monet’s pieces. Also
there is the one of the most popular
sculptures, “The Thinker”.
3. ROY THOMSON HALL/HARBOURFRONT (★★★☆☆)
Accessibility (★★☆☆☆) : 40 minutes from AGO to Harbourfront (walk)
Photo zone (★★★★★) : Good place to take a picture with CN tower!
Price (★★★★★) : Free
Roy Thomson Hall Harbourfront
4. TORONTO ISLAND (★★★★★)
Accessibility (★☆☆☆☆) : 15 minutes from the ferry dock near harbor
front (ferry)
Photo zone (★★★★★) : On the ferry’s rear deck with Toronto, the forest
in the Toronto island
Price (★★★★☆) : CAD 4.5 if you are under 19 with NC’s student card
CAD 7 the others ( including return ferry fare)
Toronto island was not a island long time
ago. After the strong storm it became a island. The
best thing is the Toronto’s whole view.
In addition, in island, you can rest on the grass.
(Canadians did barbeque in island.) Also, there is a
beach and small amusement park.
5. cn tower (★★★☆☆)
Accessibility (★★★★☆) : 10 minutes from Harbourfront (walk)
Photo zone (★★★☆☆) : Tower is too high to take a picture with under the
tower, and glasses on tower is too dirty to take a
picture with scenery.
Price (★☆☆☆☆) : CAD 32, if you have a city pass, nearly half price!
To say frankly, I was disappointed to CN tower. I
stayed until 9:20 p.m., but the sun wasn’t set. So I
couldn’t see the beautiful Toronto’s night scenery.
However, the sunset was more beautiful than my
thought. In addition, there is a terrace on the CN
Tower. You can feel the fresh air of Toronto. Also, in
CN Tower, workers took your photo with CG CN
Tower. You can check those photos, but if you take
them to home, you should pay CAD 30. It is expen-
sive but good. :D
Day 2
Casa Loma → Ontario Parliament → Royal Ontario Museum →
University of Toronto → Eaton Centre → Dundas Square
6. casa loma (★★★★☆)
Accessibility (★★★★★) : take a subway shuttle bus at St. George station
Photo zone (★★★★☆) : beautiful house to take a picture, but some of
rooms you couldn’t get in
Price (★★☆☆☆) : CAD 20.55, if you have a city pass, nearly half price!
Casa Loma was the rich person’s house. It has 98 rooms, but we can see only
about 25 rooms. Every room has different style
and use. And in spring and summer, the garden
and terrace is open. Try to go there!
By the way, the audio guides are provided for
free. There are most of languages including Eng-
lish, Spanish, Korean, etc. With audio guide, you
can look around the rooms more precisely.
7. Ontario parliament (★★★★★)
Accessibility (★★★★★) : 1 minutes from Queen’s Park station
Photo zone (★★★☆☆)
Price (★★☆☆☆) : Free!
Every day, every hours in July and
August, there is an parliament inside
tour. If you join to that tour, you can
take a photo in a chamber!
The architec-
ture style of east
part and west part is different, because the west part of par-
liament was destroyed by fire. You can learn Ontario’s histo-
ry and look around the magnificent building from tour. It’s
like killing two birds with one stone! :D
8. ROYAL Ontario museum (★★★★★)
Accessibility (★★★★★) : 3 minutes from museum station
Photo zone (★★★★★)
Price (★★☆☆☆) : CAD 14.50 if you are under 25 and have student card
This is the best place in Toronto, I think. There
are various exhibitions;
Canadian, Chinese, Jap-
anese, Korean exhibi-
tions in first floor, dino-
saurs, bats,
birds exhibitions in second floor and ancient Greece and
Egypt exhibitions in third floor. The most impressive ex-
hibition was dinosaur exhibition. There were lots of dino-
saur’s bones! Also I was touched because there was a KO-
REAN EXHIBITION! :D
9. University OF TORONTO (★★★★☆)
Accessibility (★☆☆☆☆) : There is no border of university and university
is too big, so every popular building is elusive. :(
Photo zone (★★★★☆)
Price (★★★★★) : Free
I didn’t know that the university of Toronto is com-
posed of several colleges. So the university is really big.
Also I was surprised that because there was no border
or gate of university, university buildings are next to
the road. In addition, the old buildings shows the histo-
ry of university well.
Although it was Sunday, a lot of students were stud-
ying in library. After watching that, I resolved that I
would be diligent from next semester!
Day 3
Ontario Science Centre → Osgoode Hall → Chinatown → Ken-
sington Market → the Hockey Hall of Fame → Rogers Centre
10. Ontario science centre (★☆☆☆☆)
Accessibility (★★★☆☆) : take a 34C bus at the Eglinton station
Photo zone (★☆☆☆☆)
Price (★☆☆☆☆) : CAD 22
To speak bluntly, I don’t recommend this place at all. :( This place is focused on
children, not university students. Everything
is a little boring. However, these days, the com-
puter game exhibition sponsored by SONY is
open. Only that thing was interesting. If I had
not bought a city pass, I would not have visited
that place.
11. Chinatown / Kensington mar-
ket (★☆☆☆☆)
Accessibility (★★☆☆☆) : 20 minutes from Queen’s Park station (walk)
Photo zone (★★★☆☆) : Kensington Market’s murals are cool!
Price (★★★★★) : Free!
I went to Chinatown to feel some Asian things, but I was
really disappointed. There was no “Asian” things and there
were so many beggars. In addition, all Chinese beggar
begged money with Chinese to me. So I was scared. :(
Kensington Market is next to Chinatown. Also I
was let down in Kensington Market. I expected a
flea market, but it was just clothes stores. Also, I
felt unsafe because Kensington Market was like
developed slum. It had a lot of old and destroyed
houses, but those were hidden by murals. Addi-
tionally, there were few tourists. :(
12. ROGERS CENTRE (★★★★☆)
Accessibility (★★★★☆) : next to CN Tower
Photo zone (★★☆☆☆)
Price (★★★☆☆) : to watch a baseball game, it varies with seats
I have been big fan of LA Dodgers since I was
7. So I think I was so lucky because I could watch
the Dodgers game in TORONTO! I bought my
own ticket that is more expensive and better
than the ticket the school gave. It was really nice
seat. I could see the pitcher’s facial expressions!
Also The Dodgers won the game with the biggest
gap in this year, 14-5. Although the main pitcher, RYU’s pitching was not that
good, but I was happy!
Don’t hesitate to talk with Canadians!
You may have a map with your trip, but usually
you couldn’t find the place where you want to go. Or,
you want to take a photo with your friends. Don’t
hesitate to talk with Canadians! Most Canadians will reply happily.
With Canadians, talk about your trip or your country! I did! :D
However, keep in mind that there could be not good person. I experi-
enced the racial discrimination in Toronto. BUT, bad people are really
rare and the thing that I experienced is more rare than that! :D
TIP
The first time I saw New York city was in the Gossip Girl. I always have delusion
of visiting Manhattan. Finally I could go there! The time I spent in NYC was
amazing, especially at night. It’s quite different case with Toronto, Canada. It was
crowded with many people in Times square even at dawn. It seems like NYC is
alive all the times.
I’m going to tell you about my travel story in NY. I stayed in NY for three days and
I went around the city all day and all night. Because I didn’t have enough time to
see the sightsee of Manhattan.
Also, I got a lot of tips about NY during my trip. If you are planning to go travel
to New York, I’m sure that it will be helpful for your trip.

Tips !
1. If you take the bus in Buffalo,
you could save your time, but
you can’t take a seat what you

2. Don’t go to the Brooklyn Flea

3. You must go Times square
two times both in the day-

ferent atmosphere.
4. If you stay in Manhattan

I eagerly looked forward to visit New York. So, I planed my trip in ad-
vance even before I came to Canada. Although I planed a tight schedule
for my trip, however the bus should be departed 12:00am was delayed
2 hours. So, my plan was completely screwed up ! Therefore. I only vis-
ited Times square and “"230 fifth”", one of the famous rooftop bars at
the first day. Honestly, I wasn’t fascinated with the city at the first day. I
thought it was just like a big city of Seoul.
At the second day of the trip, I visited a lot of attractive place like met-
ropolitan museum of art, Central Park, Union square, St. Patrick’s Ca-
thedral, and Newport. Among others, I really like Metropolitan Muse-
um. I saw some beautiful and amazing painting of nature. Especially, I
was impressed by Frederic Edwin Church although I don’t have any
sensation of art. I wanted to take a picture of them, but taking a photog-
raphy was strictly forbidden in the section. It left me much to be de-
sired.
3 Days in New York City
At the third day, I felt rushed because it was my last day of trip,
but I don’t have time to visit some places what I really wanted to
go. The weather was so cloudy and rainy, so we couldn’t see the
night view of Manhattan because the clerk of the Rockefeller Cen-
ter recommended us not to go up the building to see the view. I
was so awful about that, but we were trying to visit many tourist
attractions as much as possible, and went to a lot of beautiful plac-
es.
I love New York city. It was fabulous, amazing, and attractive to
me. I really enjoyed the time I had in New York, but if I had a
chance to visit Manhattan again, I will check the weather whether
it is sunny or not.

I went to MT Bellies on July 6th,
Saturday after we went to dragon
boat. We ordered nacho and
chicken wings and Canadian
beer. Nacho was topped with
cheddar cheeses, diced tomatoes,
red onion, salsa, sour cream, and
jalapenos. It was very very
delicious. I want to eat now too.
And we ordered wings, hot
taste, but it was so so.
We ordered beer too. But it was
expensive compared with Korea.
Because pitcher was too little to
us. But we enjoyed MT Bellies because server was very kind.

I think Handle Bar is good
place to drink beer. Because
food is cheap and has nice
little place. I think Handle
Bar is famous for pizza. I
saw many of customers eat
pizza. Unfortunately, I didn’t
eat pizza before, but next
time i’ll try it. Handle Bar
has daily cheap menu. So
you can eat food cheaply.

Because I went to there at dinner time, so it was 20

foods are delicious and look good. Additionally, it was

I like to eat. When I was in Korea, I usually went to delicious food restaurant. So I was
always wondering about Canada’s delicious food and restaurant before I arrived here. I
wanted to eat Canada’s traditional food, But james said ‘ There is no Canada’s traditional food because Canadians are all immgrants’. I
was very depressed. But!! fortunately, there are few good food
stores in Welland. Boston Pizza, Sushi Eight, Red Rice, Swiss Chalet, MT Bellies, Fat Cat,
Handle Bar is that. I went to only MT Bellies , Fat Cat, Handle Bar.
Fat Cat is the first store that I ate out. But
Fat Cat’s cream pasta was not good. I told it to my homestay mom, she said ‘Don’t eat out
pasta because I cook pasta very well’. And few days later she maid me pasta, it was very
delicious!! I love her pasta
Second is MT Bellies. Although we went to
there to drink beer, it looks like franchise family restaurant. The server was very kind and
price was so so. Nacho was very good , so i want to go there to eat nacho!!
Handle Bar is small pub. I like there because
of atmosphere of bar. And handle Bar has Pocket ball. So we can use that when it is
emptied. It costs only 1$. However I think most delicious food
restaurant is my homestay house. Because my homestay mom always make me delicious and
every day different food. I feel I gain more weight, but I can’t stop eat food. During the rest of a month, I will exercise hard and keep
going to eat.

Ordinarilly, I'm interested in food. In Korea, I
find a good restaurant and go there with my
friend. So, this is why I choose this theme.
With my friend, Ye Kyeong, I went to Handle
bar, Sushi Eight, MT Bellies. I think it's cheap
than I expected. Especially, Sushi Eight was
wonderful. With just 12 dollars, food was
unlimited. I ate, ate, ate...I was satisfied very
much. So, boss was upset I think. Not just
sushi, roll and sasimi was great. Then, I
recommended thess restaurants to my friends.
Especially, handle bar is always crowded with
my korean friends. When I go there, I always
meet korean friends. Now, my spanish friends
go there, too. Hahaha.
Boss of handle bar should appreciate me!! And
I want to say to Ye Kyeong, my class mate,
that I appreciate her because she worked very
hard in this assignment. It was lucky that I
meet her. Thank you Ye Kyeong. As I do this
assignment, I learned a lot about Welland. I
think Welland is very very countryside and
quiet village but there are many good
restaurant. I was amazing. When I return to
Korea, I will tell my friends with this village
and experience. It was gorgeous and exciting
experience to me!! Thank you for reading our
writting.
My first impression of Canada
YEGYEONG SIM
I arrived in Canada on June,26th. I was very tired because of the long flight. So, I couldn’t
feel Canada very well. And then I entered my homestay house with homestay mom. That was at
night, but she explained many things kindly. Next day, I couldn’t adapt to this house easily
because I’m foreigner and I am not a member of this house’s family. I felt just I’m a guest. And
there are many differences compared with Korea. I’ve never lived in a house like Canada (I only
lived in an apartment). That’s why I couldn’t adapt to this house easily too. There is a swimming
pool in this house, that is really interesting. And they eat yogurt, cereal or fruits for breakfast,
then eat sandwiches for lunch. In Korea, I eat sandwiches sometimes but here, I eat sandwiches
almost every day. So I am sick of that. Another thing is, in Korea we have to respect older
people. So when a family eats a meal together, older people start to eat first, and then we can eat.
But in Canada I don’t have to wait for them. Just eat!!. The first time, I felt very strange and now I
still feel that a little too. Many Koreans have learned to be polite, so sometimes they feel it a little
hard to adapt Canada culture. Therefore I think we try to have an open mind. It will make it
easier to adapt to homestay and Canada.
Go to PEN CENTRE
YE GYEONG SIM
July 10, 2013. We were going to go hiking in the woods. But there was a big storm in
there (St. John’s Conversation Area). So it was a little dangerous. Finally we went to Saint
Catherines instead of hiking. We arrived at the Pen Centre and we had to take pictures for some
mission. Me, Ji Hyang, Sun Young, Hye Jin, Jung min, and Jin Yeon were a team. Jim and Elizabeth
who an expert of the Pen Centre helped us. So maybe we were the first successful mission team. Jim said
“They walk very powerfully, and fast.” “I’m tired, because I’m old~!” We would like to walk slowly but we
wanted to shop more time. Sorry to Jim but there was no choice. After we successed our mission, we
started shopping and felt gratitude for Jim and Elizabeth. These pictures are 10 of mission picture that we
did.
