These are the Unit Codes and their percentage weighting at AS Level Component 1: 8PY0/01 [50%] Component 2: 8PYO/02 [50%] Assessed Internally and Sampled by the Exam Board Coursework and 10 hour examination in the Summer Term assessed internally and externally by Edexcel Year 1 These are the Units of Work / Modules we study in Year 1 Component 1 – Personal Investigation: There are two major elements: supporting studies and practical work, which will comprise of a portfolio of development work and outcomes. Students must work within Photography and may explore any one of the following titles to experiment and develop their work: Art, Craft and Design, Fine Art, Graphic Communication, Textile Design and Three-dimensional Design. Component 2 – Externally Set Assignment - This component allows students opportunities to generate and develop ideas, research primary and contextual sources, record practical and written observations, experiment with media and processes, and refine ideas towards producing personal resolved outcome(s) in response to an externally set theme. Entry Requirements Click here to access the Digital Photography Enrolment Task The minimum entry requirement will be six GCSE qualifications at grade 5 - 9 including English Language and Mathematics. In addition to this students will be expected to achieve a grade 5 or above in Art or a related subject and encouraged to invest in their own DSLR camera.
