In the run up to the general election, I would like to encourage local candidates from all political parties to pledge to stand up for people with autism and their families. Autism affects over half a million people in the UK and many do not get the help, support and services they so desperately need. As the parent of a child/adult with autism/As a person affected by autism/As an autism campaigner [delete as appropriate] I would like to see our future MP support the work of The National Autistic Society and do their very best to represent the interests of people with autism both locally and at a national level. The right help at the right time can make an enormous difference to people’s lives.
