Lets Go RVingNewsletter, Volume 1March 2015While it is reported that 8.5% of U.S. households own some form of recreational vehicle, 0.5% account for towable pop ups. Though selling less than when their sales peaked in 1998,

they continue to be popular primarily driven by their relatively affordable price and their unique advantages. Lets look at some of the key features

Passing On Camping To KidsBy Cynthia BaumCamping with your kids on a regular basis is so important as it radically promotes Passing on Camping to Kids. These camping experiences as children will instill the values of camping in them, which they will hopefully pass on to their future kids. This in turn establishes family traditions, which evoke healthy and jubilant experiences for children to carry on well after you are gone (with their own offspring). It really creates a healthy lifestyle, which propels future times of family togetherness, fostering love and appreciation for one another and also for their natural environment. that pop up trailers deliver.

Can be towed by many types of vehicles, including some front wheel drive autos.

Light weight and low wind resistant is easy on the fuel bill.

Easy to handle without blocking your rear view.

    Accommodates easy

    storage without being an eyesore.

For an RV, very reasonably inexpensive to insure.

A wide variety of amenities available.

A wide scope of affordable costs.

They still offer that feeling of camping as they require

some set up and pack up at the campsite. However, stepping into one has no comparison to a tent-like atmosphere. Larger than thought floorplans, refrigerators, stoves and a commode are just a few of the amenities found in some. The elevated living quarters, as opposed to ground tenting, allows for

more comfort in colder climates and thereby can extend the normal camping season.

So, if you are still camping in a conventional tent, and considering moving up, check out what these versatile campers offer. The sizes and what you can get in them, may just surprise you.

Sadly, some kids have never been camping once in their lives. Others have been camping, but only with other families and not their own. Camping is, in my opinion, a fun event that all families should experience together (ideally) every year, if not multiple times a year. It encourages family togetherness; forging bonds and creating fond memories that will last a lifetime. It also encourages time away from technology (which we all need from time to time) and fosters an appreciation for the great outdoors.

Of all the things we do with our children, camping is the one that fulfills so many aspects that our children long for and inherently crave. They most especially want our TIME devoted to them and our undivided ATTENTION. These can both be fulfilled while camping and enjoying

some outdoor playtime, sharing food, passing on stories and jokes around the campfire, star-gazing and playing games. Whether you play card games, board games, or take a trek through the woods; kids will eat up every second and appreciate the time with you, more than you will ever know.

So, whether you have grand kids, nieces and nephews, or your own kids, it is time to set up a fun, memorable camping experience that will benefit everyone involved and most importantly, will Pass on Camping to Kids (for future generations).

On the Lighter Side, Buying an RV!

I thought a little humor in your day would be good. Here are some RV buying scenarios you should try to avoid!

If you ever hear an RV salesperson say thisRUN!

    10) I wont even be able to buy my kid a new pair of shoes on this commission.

    9) I cant believe my sales manager agreed to this price.

    8) Uncle Sam will make more in taxes than I will in profitat this price.

    7) This price is ONLY good for today.

    6) Because I like you so much, were going to sell you this unit at our cost.

    5) Youre truck can tow anything on this lot!

    4) Sure the tires on this used RV are 9 years old, but look how much tread they have left.

    3) If I can get your monthly payment where you want it, will you buy the RV today?

    2) Trust me, everything on this used RV works.

    1) Your trade-in is only worth $10,000, but were going to give you $20,000 for it.

    Happy Camping,Mark Polk

Larry Ey, Bel Air, MarylandLike the screen door of many coaches, opening our door from the inside requires sliding a plastic panel to access and pull the spring-loaded handle. This can be very inconvenient at times, especially when carrying something.

To eliminate the sliding of the panel and make it easier to unlock the handle, I attached a nylon cord between the handle and the

hinged edge of the door. After drilling a small hole in the handle, I wound the cord through the hole and tied it to the handle.

The other end of the cord is attached to a screw along the edge of the screen door. The string can be easily pulled down to open the door handle from inside or outside without ever needing to slide the plastic and pull the handle.
