Sunday September 23 11:00am-5:00pmLethbridge Public Library Main Branch 810 5th Ave S
Join in the fun as the Lethbridge Public Library hosts our second national The Word On The Street Festival on the streets around the downtown library. Come along for live music on one of three performance stages, author readings, panels, workshops and childrens activities. Browse the Market Place and sample some festival treats. The 2012 festivi-ties runs Sunday, September 23, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm inside the Lethbridge Library Main Branch at 810 5th Ave S and on the adjoining streets. Everyone is welcome and all events are FREE!!
The Word On The Street Festival is a national celebration of literacy hosted in Lethbridge by the Lethbridge Public Library. In this role, the mission is multi-faceted; to acknowledge and promote writers, publishers and literary arts organizations in Alberta; to build bridges between literary arts and literacy in southern Alberta; to involve Aboriginal writers, theatre groups, and storytellers as integral contributors to Albertas heritage and culture; and to ensure The Word On The Street Lethbridge represents the diversity of all our communities and is accessible to everyone.

scavenger hunt
Film night hosted by NAAG
photoscavenger huntLast Years Photo Scavenger Hunt was such a success that we are going to do it again! Its just like an old-fashioned scavenger hunt but with a new twist you take photos of what you find! The goal is to share your digital photos of the places and things you see during Lethbridge Arts Days. Each person or team can share the good memories and interesting sites they encounter!
The photo scavenger hunt starts at 11:00am on Sunday, September 23 and ends at 5:00pm, Saturday, September 29. Submit 10 photos using the above clues as inspiration by Friday, October 7, and your name will be entered into a draw for a $100 gift certificate from L.A. Gallery! All photos must be taken at a Lethbridge Arts Days participating event and include the clue they were inspired by.
There are several ways you can share them with us:
Upload your photos on the wall of our facebook page: www.facebook.com/ArtsDaysLeth
Tweet them to @AACLeth
use Instagram @AACLeth
email them to [email protected]
RULES Get creative- take photos from interesting levels and angles and have fun with your camera or phones lters & settings! Remember, all pho-tos should be family-friendly! Please submit only one picture per category- Its tempting to take pictures of every cool thing you see, but for the purposes of this contest, we only want to see the best pictures youve taken for each category. It should go without saying, but if youre taking pictures of a per-son, always ask permission! Also, please keep in mind that we may be post-ing pictures on the Arts Days and Allied Arts Council website/publications!

messagesThankyou
On behalf of the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge I am very pleased to welcome you to Arts Days. This years festivities will include:
The 9th annual ArtWalk, An Artisan Market, Street Performers, A Performance Sampler, A Local Film Night, a Pancake Breakfast and More!
We have recently experienced a very successful collaboration with the Lethbridge sports community as they hosted the Alberta Summer Games. The arts community were able to provide individual performances and exhibits during the games as well as a successful Gallery Hop experience. We hope to share the incredible talent of the Lethbridge arts community once again with the 2012 Lethbridge Arts Days.
Thank you to all the artists, participants and patrons who make this annual event so very special. We encourage you to participate in Arts Days events and enjoy the diversity of the talent in our community; revealing how the arts are a vital and thriving part of our community.
Again I wish to stress that we believe that Arts Days is an ideal opportunity to support our mission of providing leadership in advancing and enhancing the arts in Lethbridge.
We are looking forward to 2013 as we will celebrate our new Community Arts Centre in our festivities.
I am pleased to invite you to experience Lethbridge Arts Days 2012 and marvel at the array of outstanding artistic talent we have right here in our city.
The City of Lethbridge Integrated Community Sustainability Plan, approved by City Council in 2010, identifies the arts as one of the core components of our communitys future. Tangible evidence of this commitment is the new Community Arts Centre taking shape in downtown Lethbridge. This facility will serve as a beautiful cornerstone, reminding us all how much a vital arts community adds to the quality of life in our city.
Lethbridge Arts Days is one of many arts celebrations taking place around the province as part of Alberta Culture Days from September 23-30, 2012. Locally, the Allied Arts Council is co-ordinating an array of Arts Days activities for the enjoyment of residents of our community and visitors from around the region. These events serve as a wonderful showcase for Lethbridges diverse community of artists and organizations from a broad range of disciplines including visual art, music, performances, demonstrations and more.
I would like to thank the Allied Arts Council and the other dedicated volunteers who have worked diligently to bring Arts Days to our community. Your much appreciated efforts help make Lethbridge a culturally rich community.
