Social Responsibility Asia (SR Asia) Bangladesh is the wing of SR ASIA - an

International Organization and a professional network resulting from e-learning

and trainer led program at ROC Taipei by APO Japan and NPOs of member

countries. SR ASIA Strategic partners are APO and NPOs member countries,

Government agencies and work partners of SR Asia Bangladesh are International

and National organizations, Civil Society Organizations, Academic institutes and

Business Support organizations. SR Asia Bangladesh works closely with policy

holders and organizations to design socially responsible process in value chain.

SR Asia Board of Directors’ meeting was held on 24th May 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mr. Birendra Raturi, International

Director of SR Asia presided over the meeting and Ms. Sumaya Rashid, Country Director, SR Asia Bangladesh, Dr. Semerdanta

Pusaka, Country Director of SR Asia Indonesia and Dr. Leow Chee Seng, Country Director of Malaysia and SR Asia global

advisory panel were present to set up the next five years strategic plan.

Policy level Workshop on Environmentally Sound Management of Plastic

Wastes for the prevention of marine litter and plastic pollution. 20

Countries policy makers joined this high level workshop. SR Asia

Bangladesh participated as an implementing agency to contribute in

policy making process.

LAUNCHING OF PROJECT TITLED: MARINE LITTER AND MICROPLASTICS: PROMOTING THE ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND MANAGEMENT OF PLASTIC WASTES AND ACHIEVING THE PREVENTION AND MINIMIZATION OF THE GENERATION OF PLASTIC WASTES, 18-19 SEPTEMBER 2019

PROJECT ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT OF 200 WASTE WORKERS

Social Responsibility Asia (SR Asia) Bangladesh inked agreement with Practical Action for developing capacity of 200 waste workers on

Entrepreneurship Development from 01 October 2019. The project is funded by Practical Action Bangladesh. The program is designed to

position the waste workers for a dignified life through entrepreneurship development.

The objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity in Bangladesh and Ghana to control the transboundary movements of plastic waste, to ensure the environmentally sound management of plastic waste, and prevent and minimize the generation of plastic waste. The project is funded by Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad)

and implemented by Basel Convention Regional Centre in South East Asia (BCRC-SEA), Basel Convention Coordinating Centre in Africa (BCCC-Nigeria), Stockholm Convention Regional Centre in Spain (SCRC-Spain), Social Responsibility Asia (SR Asia) Bangladesh, Öko-Institute and Resource Futures. The project consists of the following components: • Component 1: Controlling the TBM of plastic waste • Component 2: Ensuring the environmentally sound management (ESM) of plastic waste • Component 3: Tackling source
