The demand for an energy switch is becoming increasingly important, not only due to the
recent events in Japan. For this reason, it must remain our objective to expand renewab-
le energies and therefore create a real alternative to fossil fuels and nuclear power. With
an investment in photovoltaics, you are not only investing in climate protection, but also

As a wholesaler and system provider, SOLEOS has assumed the task to sell solar power
plants nationally and abroad. In doing so, our focus is on the sale of complete, aligned
photovoltaic systems that consist of solar modules, inverters, installation systems and
suitable accessories.

in an optimum way, we have added solar modules in black, the SOLEOS Black-Line, the

SOLEOS offers a large selection of synchronised products
for both integrated grid-connected systems and for appli-

family of modules. The SOLEOS-LINE (185 Wp to 300 Wp)
features a rigid frame and increased snow loading, as well
as German technology. Besides mono and polycrystalline

The service life and reliability of inverters are key. This
is why SOLEOS trusts Kaco new energy products. Kaco of-
fers a broad range of inverters for every type of photo-
voltaic installation, rated from 1.6 kW to more than 1 MW.
In addition, KACO provides an optional guarantee of up to
25 years, or maintenance service, on the entire inverter
portfolio.
The product portfolio is complemented by assembly sys-

also a member of PV CYCLE. The PV CYCLE initiative
was founded in July 2007 by companies working in the

We offer a broad selection of monocrystalline, polycrystal-
line, amorphous and micro-amorphous solar modules for
grid-connected systems.
Class II, IEC 61215/61730 for crystalline modules and to
IEC 61646/61730 for thin layer modules, and hence con-
form to international standards. Additionally, we offer MSC
Service and our warranty are very important to us. Our
module suppliers guarantee a power supply of 80% over
a period of 25 years and of 90% over a period of 12 years
- as well as up to 10-year product guarantee.

Our SOLEOS-LINE includes SOLEOS Black 185-8MM, SOLEOS
190-8MM, SOLEOS 250-2MS, SOLEOS Black 250-2MS as well
as SOLEOS 300-8MM.
The SOLEOS-LINE is manufactured under the most strin-
gent quality requirements. The modules feature a low po-
wer tolerance. This low value is the direct consequence
of the optimum processing of excellent cells and prevents
ranges from 13.2% to 15.2% and the modules can withstand
a snow load up to 5400 Pascal. The increased snow load is
an indication of the resilience of the modules to external
environmental factors. These modules are hence ideal for
snowy areas.

The successors of our Powador
2500xi to Powador 5000xi transfor-
merless single-phase inverters are
equipped with digital controllers
so that they can be used interna-
tionally. The appropriate country
settings can easily be selected on-
are stored in the software, so the
inverters can be quickly installed
in any country. Users can also choo-
se a menu language regardless of
the selected country setting. We
have changed the product names
in line with this improvement. The
maximum PV generator power for
which the particular unit is opti-
mised can now be read from the
designation.
All units from the Powador 3200 to
the Powador 6600 operate with a
full bridge without a step-up con-
verter. Four IGBT power switches
reproduce the sine-shaped voltage
curve of the public power grid em-
ploying pulse width modulation.
These are true single-stage, self-
commutated units. However, the
input voltage must be greater than
the peak line voltage for them to
be used. The units are equipped
with a wide MPP range of 350 V
to 600 V. The open circuit volta-
work of installers when laying out
systems. The same is true for the
integrated DC disconnect. Screw
terminals make connecting to the
grid easy. The units contain a sing-
le- or three-phase monitoring sys-
tem conforming to VDE0126-1-1,
including an AC/DC-sensitive resi-

Powador Megawatt-Station
The Megawatt Station from KACO signals the dawn of a

The Powador Megawatt Station comprises three Po-
wador XP 350- HV TLs connected to each other which,
including medium voltage transformer, delivered as a
turnkey station implementation.

synchronised perfectly to KACO inverters. The fact that
proLog family data loggers and inverters come from the
same source ensures optimal functionality and compati-

For large-scale systems which are rated at 100 KW and
which must be connected to the ripple control receivers
of energy suppliers, proLog XL family data loggers provide
the relevant interfaces to satisfy current regulations.

The Powador miniLOG is KACO’s smallest

The Powador-link RS485 is a radio module
comprising a transmitter and receiver ac-
ting as a wireless extension of the RS485

can also be monitored with the Powador-

Advanced: RS485 is not optically isolated
Premium: RS485 is optically isolated
In the Premium variant, RS485 communi-
cation is galvanically isolated from the bus
system. This is recommended if the sensors
are combined with inverters in the bus net-
work.
The Advanced variant is used in the Powa-
dor-go Set - galvanic isolation is not requi-
red here.

Monitoring and software
With the Powador-display LOCAL, up to 6 inverters can be
monitored. An own data logger collects the measurement
data of the inverters and transmits them to a digital pic-
ture frame via W-LAN. The multimedia options make this
representative system visualisation particularly attractive.
The data logger is suitable for up to 6 inverters via RS 485.
It also works with the Linux operating system.

The Powador-proLOG is a data logger that offers compre-
hensive options for local and remote monitoring on a PC.
It records voltages, currents, temperatures, powers and
productions of the individual inverters. The system data
saved are sent once a day by e-mail.
If the system diverges from the operating modes spe-

KACO CALC Pro is a free-of-charge program for the pro-
fessional design and yield simulation of grid-connected
photovoltaic systems. It runs under Microsoft Windows and
is available for download on the KACO homepage (www.
kaco-newenergy.de). Technical details for all KACO inver-
ters, several hundred PV module types and irradiation data
based on average values for the last 10 years for Germany
are all available for calculations.
KACO CALC Pro enables you to design your overall system
- either based on module data already stored or based on
parameters you enter yourself. You can also carry out a
yield forecast and calculate the loss of AC and DC lines,
including the loss for single and threephase feed.
The program is available in German, English, Spanish,
Italian, Czech and French.

Powador-web
Powador-web is an Internet portal which, in conjunction

sons and individual inverter values such as current, volta-
ge, power on inputs and outputs) to module temperature
and solar irradiation. Also, alarm conditions and types of
Powador-web displays are available in 10”, 15” and 42”
sizes.
Module temperature sensor
This self-adhesive temperature sensor
measures the temperature of photovoltaic
modules. In order to do this, the tempe-
rature sensor is stuck onto the rear of a
photovoltaic module. This silicone rubber
-
ture sensor. The sensor is held tight against
directly onto the surface to be monitored.
The sensor is supplied with a 2m connec-
tion lead (wires 7 x 0.2), and works to-
gether with the PXT 10 temperature con-
verter. This conditions the signal of the PT
100 temperature sensor for the Powador-
proLOG. Line resistances between tempe-
rature sensor and temperature converter
are compensated for. This converter is re-
quired for the self-adhesive module tem-
perature sensor. For the Powador-proLOG,
we recommend a 230V AC power supply to
relieve loading of the internal PSU of the
Powador-proLOG.
Irradiation sensor
The irradiation sensor is used for professi-
onal monitoring of a photovoltaic system.
The irradiation measured is used to deter-
mine the expected yield of a PV system and
to compare it to the actual yield. The short-
circuit current of a silicon (Si) solar cell is
proportional to the solar irradiation. The
Si sensors use a monocrystalline solar cell
which is operated virtually in short-circuit
with a low-impedance resistor. The positive
current results in a low measurement er-
ror. The Si sensors (with code TC) therefo-
re have active temperature compensation
which reduces this error by a factor of 20.
A special temperature sensor is laminated
into the rear of the solar cell for this purpo-
se. All sensors have been calibrated against
a pyranometer when exposed to sunlight
(Kipp & Zonen, model CM11).

Cable loss calculation is divided into three subgroups - DC cable losses, AC cable losses and AC three-phase cable losses.
This enables you to calculate cable losses individually. For cable losses on the DC side, you should also consider generator
connection boxes.
All popular PV modules are kept in a list which is continually updated. If your module is not in the list, you can easily add
new modules from the input screen. Modules entered yourself are retained when the list is updated later.

SolarLog - Modern monitoring technology
The SolarLog™ is a microcomputer which has everything
you need for system monitoring on the smallest of foot-
prints.
An Ethernet network interface links the SolarLogTTM to
the “outside world”. You can essentially select any com-
ponents you wish to use. In the simplest case, you only
require a network cable from the SolarLog™ to your PC.
You can also use/establish a wireless network. There is
the option to connect a WLAN router to the SolarLog™ to
provide a wireless connection to your PC or notebook. The
SolarLog1000 also supports data storage on a USB stick.
You can now establish a connection to the SolarLog ™. The
latest technology is used and no installation at all is requi-
red on the PC side. You only require your Internet browser.
Entering the network address of the SolarLog™ instantly
displays the start screen. The web browser is used for all

We also offer the suitable accessories for the ideal sup-
plement of the SolarLog™. Sensors for the current sunlight
and the module temperatures provide important informa-
tion for the analysis of yield data and thereby enable a
reliable target/actual comparison as well as quick fault
detection. The sensor box consists of sensors for wind,
sunlight and external and module temperatures. The sen-
sors are directly installed on the photovoltaic system. The
connection is carried out easily via an RS485 interface.
The Solar-Log™ RS485 radio package connects the Solar-
Log™ across long distances with the inverter. In many ca-
ses, the Solar- Log™ RS485 radio package is the practical
alternative to the modem or mobile radio package.
For systems which are installed outside the range of an
internet or telephone connection,
the mobile communication modem is often the suitable
solution. This means that the Solar-Log™ is able to send
messages as an e-mail or SMS and supply Solar-Log™ WEB
with online data at any time.
The software and hardware for data transmission are al-

The load-bearing capacity of the roof must be checked
beforehand by the customer.
The standard products for elevations, the anchor bolts
for attachment in concrete and the T-brackets or plastic
plates for taking ballast are included in the delivery. The
concrete blocks and gravel are not included in quotations
or deliveries. We determine the ballast weight necessary
such as snow and wind load, self-weight, elevation angle,
module size and position.
Positioning of modules to approx. 30° is recommended

Steel tube structure with DOMA® screw foundationsThe use of a steel tube structure in combination with DOMA®
screw foundations provides for a very uncomplicated type of out-
door system installation. Screw foundations are turned into the
ground for anchoring, hence making the pouring of concrete foun-
dations redundant. This variant is excellently suited to compen-
sating for unevenness in the ground and can be used for different
ground types without sealing the ground. The steel tubes on which
the proven installation system is attached are mounted on the
screw foundations.

Installation system for trapezoidal sheet roofs
For trapezoidal sheet roofs in particular, SOLEOS offers
is suitable for all module types. The ReDuce installation
system is a riveted variant used mainly for sloped trape-
zoidal roofs. Modules are placed directly on the rails and
locked into place.
Wind and eddy forces are low here because the contact
surface of the wind is lower due to the lower mounting
position. On the ReDuce system, a special coating ensures
securing of the countersunk head screws in the pressure
plates and the correct seating of the threaded plates. All
screws are stainless steel and rustproof and all rails are
made of sea water-resistant aluminium (EN AW 6060). This
installation system is guaranteed for 10 years.
The ReJect installation system is an elevated system sui-
table for different subsurfaces and facades. Triangles are
available in all angles and sizes, welded or bolted - depen-
ding on customer requirement.
The system is secured with weight loading, hanger bolts
or rivets. Individual, optimal roof layouts can be attai-
ned with edgewise or crosswise assembly. The roof sur-
enables simple installation of the modules. All screws are
stainless steel and rustproof and all rails are made of sea
water-resistant aluminium (EN AW 6060). This system is
also guaranteed for 10 years. For the lightweight design
of trapezoidal plates in particular, an extended variant of
the ReJect system is available as a riveted elevation with

We have put together some explanations for you so as to
enable you to more rapidly locate the roof hooks required.
Roof hooks are used for roofs with roof tiles, slate tiles
or concrete tiles. An additional distinction is made bet-
ween pantile and plain roof hooks.
The use of roof hooks with a base plate is recommended
because the best place for feeding through the bracket
can be found by moving the plate on the rafter.
We make our roof hooks from different sorts of steel.
This is why our standard versions are labelled appropria-
tely:

Maximum bearable vertical forceThese values correspond to the maximum bearable verti-

An average value has been determined for height ad-
justable roof hooks - this lies at a height adjustment of
25mm. Slate roof hooks are exceptions. Here the height
adjustment does not have any bearing on the maximum
bearable vertical force.
For pantile tiles and plain roof hooks, the lower bracket
is designed to be used for a standard slat height (cross
slat) of 3cm. A custom hook must be produced for lower
slat heights. The height difference for larger slats can be
compensation with rafter attachments 5mm thick by bol-
ting them to the rafter. Height-adjustable roof hooks are
used to level uneven roofs.

Slate and shingle roof hooks
1. Short shingle roof hooks enable mounting on shingle
roofs. EPDM tape is bonded in between the membrane and
bracket for sealing or the roof hook is tarred in. Two 8 x
80 hexagonal wood screws are required for attachment.
2. Long slate roof hooks are suitable for larger roof sla-
roofs. Holes are countersunk with Ø 7mm and are intended

What are off-grid systems?Individual solution for your application
Off-grid systems are used in areas where there is no elec-
tricity network.
They are also used in applications such as toys, mobile
phone chargers, garden lamps, allotments, mobile homes,
holiday homes, residential buildings and parking meters.
Off-grid photovoltaic systems comprise a generator
(solar module), a charge regulator and, where required,
power conversion (off-grid inverter) and energy storage
(battery).

Because solar irradiation levels and differ in every loca-
tion on the planet, an exact description of the location is
important (country, place, features of the surroundings,

the daily consumption (in Wh), accurate information on in-
dividual consumers and how long they use the equipment
must be available.
Local power generation is where the future lies, especially
in areas with no reliable public electricity network. Off-
grid inverters enable local electricity networks to be set
up to support any kind of alternating current consumers.
The requirements for off-grid inverters are high - good
operating state.
Not a problem for our KI family of off-grid inverters!
They provide independent power supply in regions away
from the grid under extreme conditions. The KI family
comprises galvanically isolated devices with MOSFET se-
miconductors.
They convert the direct voltage (e.g. 12V, 24V or 48V)
of a battery into alternating voltage (230V/50Hz or
110V/60Hz). Even sensitive electronic devices such as
energy-saving lamps and laptops can be run with it. Using

sine wave voltage“ (trapezium or triangular shape) or
square wave voltages can even damage sensitive opera-
ting equipment.

The Steca PR 10-30 family of charge regulators combines
the latest charging technologies with much improved Ste-
ca-AtonIC charge state determination.
This results in optimal battery maintenance and che-
cking of the maximum 900 Wp module rating which can
be connected.
The Steca Tarom is a solar change regulator specially for
use in telecommunication applications or in photovoltaic
hybrid systems. An array of interesting functions enables
the user to adapt the regulator to special system condi-

Off-grid systems
The reCUBE was specially developed for use in areas away
from the grid. It forms a mobile supply unit which can
work without a diesel generator and which is completely
based on renewable energy sources.
It uses a PV generator to convert solar power into elec-
tricity and stores this in a battery. The system is aided
by a wind wheel which compensates for the lack of solar
power at night and during months with less sunshine. At
the heart of the system is a KACO off-grid inverter (model
K 3000) which can provide a maximum power of 9 kW at
short notice.
The system is tailored to the requirements of the cus-
tomer and is provided to the customer as a completely
tailored to the needs of the customer. The number of mo-
power of the PV generator to requirements. In addition, a
bypass switch for connecting the reCUBE to an existing or
future electricity network is provided.
After the connection is made, the reCUBE checks the
actual energy provision of the network and accepts the
supply if the network cannot deliver any power.

Solar cables
with a double jacket as an insulation layer. We supply our
cables with different external diameters depending on the
-
ture of our solar cables. The cables feature high tempe-
rature resistance and mechanical stability and are UV and
ozone resistant. The expected service life for trouble-free
use is 25 years.
The cable varieties shown here only represent a selec-
tion of all available cables. We have decided to only offer
our solar cables in black. There are two reasons for this:
Firstly, black cables are more stable under exposure to
UV light. With red and blue cables, UV light penetrates re-
latively deeply into the insulation. This means that the UV
stabilizers in the material intervene to protect the base
material.
With black cables, the pigments producing the black co-
lour also help to absorb UV radiation. So UV radiation does
not penetrate deep into the material. The consequence is
long service life of the insulation.
Perceived safety is another reason for colour coding bet-
ween the positive and negative lines. Many inverters have
been damaged by attaching the red cable to the positive
terminal and the blue cable to the negative terminal.
We therefore recommend always running a polarity
check with the meter before connecting to the inverter.
We see the lack of colour coding as a gain in safety during
installation because the polarity must be determined with
a measurement.

If you are not sure which connectors are required and you
do not want to buy expensive specialist tools for every
connector model, we can provide you with a solution:
Butt connector set model no.: 50400 comprising:
1 x special shrink hose with hot-melt adhesive, resistant
to UV light and weatherproof
The butt connector set is a low-cost alternative to the
many different plug-in connectors available on the so-
lar market for which expensive specialist tools must be
purchased. Standard electrician’s tools are all you need to
work with the butt connector set.
Plug-in connectors
A perfect and inexpensive connection in 3 steps:
Step 1: Strip outer cable sheathing by about 14mm, the inner one by about 7 mm
Step 2: Push the shrink hose over the cable and place the butt connector into the crimper. Insert cable end and
crimp. Repeat the process with the other end of the cable.
Step 3: Push the shrink hose over the crimping point and crimp until adhesive escapes at the
ends of the shrink hose.
