  • Is Robin Bryans 'The Devil' and 'Worse than Hitler'? The author sotired of getting gagging writs meant to silence him that he obtainedOrders for Trials, but no government would allow the jury to hear theevidence. In 1949 Winston Churchill's cousin, Lord Rodney, askedBryans and his fiancee, Diana Pelham, to start their married life withhim on his farm in Alberta. 1949 also saw Churchill's old friend,Bendor, Duke of Westminster, buy a chunk of Diana Pelham's familyestate before Bendor also wanted land in Canada. Because of CurrencyConffol, Bendor had to have High Court leave to take f5 million toCanada. The Labour Treasury cancelled this but when Churchillbecame Prime Minister again in 1951 he gave his friend Bendorpermission to take the f5 million to develop part of British Columbiawhere Lady Katharine Churchill's father had been Premier. In 1916Katharine married the gay 2nd Viscount Churchill to try and stopgossip about her hold as a spiritualist medium over her lover, Peter'smother Lady Verena Churchill.

In 1991 Robin Bryans read to the High Court from the Rudolf Hessbiography by Hess's son, which asserts that it was Lonsdale Bryanswhom the wartime German Resistance chose to lead a peace mission toLondon which could have saved millions of lives. The British andAmerican governments put an embargo on the Hess papers until 2017though some have since been released after Bryans raised the matter incourt. Bendor Westminster supported the peace mission until WinstonChurchill stopped it. As a youth, Bendor had been influenced by theanti-Imperialist poet, Scawen Blunt, whose cousin, Sir Anthony Blunt, the Soviet spy, became adviser to his friend Pud, 5th Duke ofWestminster.

In 1979 Private Eye used Robin Bryans's letters to the Westminstersto expose Blunt as a Russian spy. Was Robin Bryans a fellowCommunist because he did not want his children to inherit Churchilltitles via Diana Pelham? Many would bring these allegations into theHigh Court, but because the royal family and Anthony Blunt weremixed up in the political implications, the jury in Mr. Justice Jupp'scourt never heard the case. As one Cabinet Minister put it,'Too muchwould come out.'

In this book Robin Bryans tells what the jury was prevented fromhearing about Anthony Blunt and their friends in high places.

of Zurich where our families had Second World War interests in Ulrich von Hasselland Lonsdale Bryans who appeared as Mr Xin The von Hassell Diaries and went toZurich disguised as a medical specialist treating von Hassell's son at Arosa' TheOctober 1946 issue of Schweizer Monatshefte stated,'LJnder the title OF THEOTHER GERMANY the Atlantis Verlag of Zrrich will shortly publish notes of theformer ambassador Ulrich von Hassell, who was executed by the National-Socialistson the 8th September, 1944. That Ulrich von Hassell's notes escaped the fangs ofthe Gestapo, while their author had to pay with his life for the revolt against Hitler, will, in ui"* of the documentary value of these suggestive pages, be someconsolation for his tragic fate. In bequeathing his diaries, Ulrich von Hassell haserected a memorial to himself and the German Resistance movement, and has left aninestimable quary for the historian.'

On the I October 1946 Swiss Radio gave extracts of the von Hassell diaries, ending with last words he wrote before his murder and which Lonsdale Bryanstranslated as,

Thou canst lead us through death's doorTo the land where dreams come true,And mnke us free once andfor evermore.
