Featuring Reverend Gregory Boyle ~ Founder and Executive Director of Homeboy Industries “Lessons from the Field: Kinship as an Intervention” Committed leadership is critical at every level of the juvenile justice system in Missouri. The system impacts the lives and life opportunities for those served within the same and requires exceptional leadership skills from those in supervisory or management positions. This conference track is intended to build and strengthen leadership capacity and compe- tency for participants to help meet the challenges and opportunities that exist for current and future leaders. This certificate track includes sessions: “Employment Law Basics and Beyond”, “Elements of Effective Leadership”, “Inspiration, Motivation, and Jubilation in the Workplace”, and “What’s Happening in Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare in Missouri” which will examine current legal, legislative, and political implications for system leadership. “The Rev. Gregory J. Boyle, S.J., is the founder and executive director of Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, Calif., which dates its beginnings to 1988 and is now the largest gang intervention, rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world. Homeboy is a therapeutic community where those seeking to leave gang life behind can find hope and receive support to redefine their lives. In essence, Homeboy returns former gang members to their true selves. Fr. Boyle will speak about universal kinship and redemption, and how the healing power of unconditional love can remind us that no life is less valuable than another.”
