Lesson Title: Grade Level: Subject: Telling a Digital Story of the Holocaust 7 th Grade Social Studies Description of Learning Goals, Standards, Objectives CC/GPSs: SS7H2 The student will analyze continuity and change in Southwest Asia (Middle East) leading to the 21 st century. b. Explain the historical reasons for the establishment of the modern State of Israel in1948; include the Jewish religious connection to the land, the Holocaust, anti-Semitism, and Zionism in Europe. National Technology Standards: 1. Creativity and innovation Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. a. Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes b. Create original works as a means of personal or group expression Long-Term Learning Goal or Outcome: Students will learn why the Holocaust and anti-Semitism were important to the establishment of the modern State of Israel. ABCD Objectives or Outcomes: Using iMovie or Movie Maker software , students will work in groups to create a 3 to 5 minute digital story describing the significance of the anti-Semitism and/or the Holocaust with a minimum grade of 75% on a teacher created rubric. Description of Assessment Assessment Plan: After creating their own digital story, I will have the students write a one page essay describing what they learned about anti-Semitism and the Holocaust. I will walk around the classroom as the students are creating their digital story to assess if they are meeting the objectives of the lesson.
