Lesson Plan 1 i. Goal 1: Teachers will be able to identify, distinguish and use the hardware and software tools by recalling its basic concepts and the way it work. ii. Objectives Teachers will be able to differentiate between the hardware and software definitions and examples. Given a list of examples of 15 hardware and software tools, the teachers will classify them in a schedule accordingly within 5 minutes. Teachers will be able to discuss the relationship between the hardware and software tools. In groups, the teachers will discuss the relationship between hardware and software tools within 5 minutes. Teachers will be able to recognize the input and output devices of the computer and recall its importance. Using the internet, the teachers will search for images of input and output devices and write their usages without mistakes. Teachers will be able to use the input devices such as the scanner. Without references, the teachers will describe how to operate and use the scanner without error. Teachers will be able to use the output devices such as the printer. Individually, the teachers will connect the printer to a computer and operate it without errors. Instructional Strategy 1. Lesson Plan 1

Instructional Strategy

1. Direct Instruction ( lecture )

Pre-instructional activities

The lesson will start by asking the teachers to rename any technologies they know before and why do they think that they are called technologies means what makes it a technology. This will lead to a discussion in the class about the prior knowledge the teachers have and what do they think about the technology. After discussing we will start explaining the subject of the lesson and tell them what they are going to take in this class.

Presentation of information

As the lesson starts, we will present the lesson using a slide show done by PowerPoint program that contain the definitions of the hardware and software tools. First we will explain each definition and support it with examples as well as presenting pictures of the hardware and software tools. Then we will give the teachers a list of examples of 15 hardware and software tools and give them a time to classify them in 5 minutes and when they finish we will discuss the answers together.

Then we will explain the relationship between the hardware and software tools, describing that the hardware would not operate without the software and that the software would not work without the hardware. Each tool completes the other one. We will ask the teachers to divide into groups to discuss the relationship between the hardware and software tools within 5 minutes then we will ask each group to talk about their discussion.

After that, we will continue the slide show and move on to explain the input devices such as the keyboard, the mouse and the scanner, and the output devices such as the monitor and the printer. We will present pictures of each device and briefly explain its usage. The teachers will be asked to use the internet to search for images of the input and output devices and briefly write about their usage and it will be an assignment that they have to do after the lesson. The assignment should be handed over at the beginning of the next class.

Then we will explain the different parts of the scanner, how to operate it, how to connect it to the USB and how to use it to scan documents or images. We will present a video on the way the scanner works. Then using a scanner in the class we will apply what we explained earlier to show them exactly how to use it properly. Then as another assignment the teachers will write about how to operate and use the scanner using their own words without references. The assignment should be handed over at the beginning of the next class.

After that we will describe the way the printer works by explaining its parts and how to connect it to the USB. As well as changing the sittings of the document before printing it. Then using a printer we will show them how to use it and give them time to apply at the end of the lesson by connecting it to the computer and use it.

Practice and Feedback

At the end of the lesson we will give the teachers a chance to discuss any questions regarding what we have already explained. Then we will ask them to divide themselves into group of 3 and use the scanner and the printer, and we will guide their work on the devices.

Assessment strategy

We will give the teacher assignments for each lesson:

- Teachers will be given a 5 minutes quiz about what they have learned in this class.

- Teachers will be asked to print out a word document and slides using the printer. - Teachers will be asked to scan the previous year's exams and save it in a CD or a

Flash drive, and bring the softcopy of the exams in the next class.
