The focus of the lesson is locating and using information and entries in the Worldspan system (HELP/INFO/GRS) and Agent Assistant. The Source vehicle displays are directly from the car company’s database. AccessPlus and others have rates/vehicles processed from the Worldspan database. Instant confirmation and rate verification is received with each transaction.

þ Instructor’s Notes

MoneySaver availability displays all locations, car associates and car types from the lowest available total rate to the highest. The total rate includes all applicable state and federal taxes, surcharges additional fees and specific rate information. (e.g., extra day, if applicable). There is a possibility of extra charges such as mileage charges that are not included in the total rate. The Car Source participants are sorted by lowest to highest to the top of the availability display, followed by the Non-Source participant rates. If no rate plan category is specified, the lowest daily rate plan from the standard/promotional rate category is displayed.

The return date and drop time is assumed when a car availability is requested from a flight segment in the PNR or when a car is sold from a flight segment. The drop time automatically inserts to reflect one hour before the departure of the next flight segment.


Car Availability Entries • Car availability entries require airport codes, if a city code is used, it must be followed by the location code (e.g., /LC for city location). • The pick-up location defaults to the airport (in terminal or

off terminal), unless specified in the entry (e.g. /PUP-LAXC28).

• If a return date is not specified, the system defaults to the next day.

• The drop-off city must be entered manually with the /DO-XXX option.


All AccessPlus associates offer instant confirmation numbers prior to end transaction. The confirmation number and AccessPlus indicator of $XX$ (XX=car vendor code) immediately display in the PNR when the sell entry is made. If the AccessPlus link is not available, the confirmation is

processed after end transaction. However, not all associates participate in all AccessPlus features.

Some associates offer access to reservations in their system, creation of customer profiles, and the ability to display off-airport locations. Let’s look first at the AccessPlus associates

This option can only be used in conjunction with availability and continuation entries. CRAG or option CRA/AP- cancel the request for AccessPlus/Source and return an availability with both AccessPlus/Source and non-AccessPlus. Let’s move on to Car Source availability.

Car Source Availability


Car Source provides direct connection to the database of each participating car associate and displays vehicle type, availability, rate rules, specific vehicle information, and detailed rental location information. The car associates process availability requests, and information is returned directly from the car associates system. To request Car Source participants, use either the source symbol (#), or the source option (/AP-S.)

Two additional fields are displayed in specific Car Source availability. The DESCRIPTION field allows the associate to enter a description or specific remarks about the vehicle type. An asterisk (*), following the description, indicates more information is available on the next screen. A subsequent entry (CRAR) displays the additional information.

The normal screen commands apply to the last display whether the right or left screen. Review these commands. CRAD - Move down to next display CRAU - Move up to the previous display CRAT - Move to the top of the availability display CRA* - Redisplay the last screen. For specific Source displays, the screen to be redisplayed is the left screen of the last screen displayed. This screen includes vehicles, rates, and location.


Car Source displays offer more information about the vehicle, but navigate with all normal car availability moves.

Car Source availability can also be requested with specific options. A maximum of 3 /CD- or /ID- and 2 /RC- fields. Let’s look. The CD fields are separated with a dash (-) and options are separated by a slash (/). 5. Request Avis availability for arrival in San Francisco

Even though one-way rates were requested, Car Source associates are the only companies returning true one-way rates. Local return rates are displayed from the Worldspan Car Select database. The local rate information for non-Car Source associates is not guaranteed until the car is sold and confirmation from the car associate is received

When only the lowest of a specific class of vehicle is needed, abbreviated availability can be requested. Abbreviated availability searches, by Car Company, for the lowest qualified rate for each vehicle class. It can be requested in the initial entry or as a continuation entry. How exactly does it work?

• CRAA searches by Car Company for the lowest qualified rate for each vehicle class. (Economy Standard, Compact, Intermediate, etc.) • The CRAG entry removes the CRAA display and returns the general display for all companies. 1. Display INFO CRAA.

Availability displays one vehicle for the E (or C) class. If there had been duplicate Compact class, only one vehicle would remain for the Compact class. Abbreviating minimizes the amount of information and number of screens to review. Instead of making a second entry, let’s abbreviate the initial display.
