    Like Stalin,Hitler purged millions of Germans, who he found suspicious. Hitlerdemanded blind loyalty.All economic, political, and social decisions would be madeby him and him only. Thus, Germany became a command economy, and a totalitarian

    state.The a!i partycontrolled every part of the German people lives; ranin fromeducation, media, newspapers, to reliion. Hitlerwanted to make Germany feel as if ithad a fresh beinnin. He replaced the old German fla with new a new, reddishbackround fla, with a black s"asti#a in the middle.

    Hitlercontinued to ain support from the German people by promotin nationalism

    across the country. He also promised to return Germany to its glory days!, and oftenreminded the people of the days of $ismarc#. Hitler would ne"t re#ect the hated Treatyof %ersailles. He stopped payin reparations to the &orld &ar 'Allies, and instead,used that money to help rebuild Germany, by providin #obs to unemployed Germans. Headditionally used money to rebuild roads, hihways, farms, ports, homes, and churches.

    He also invested money into the military. He bean to manufacture $make% newweapons for war, and paid top scientists to conduct research in weapon prorams. Heured women to stay home, and have children. &ewards were iven to those who had alare number of children. 'y ()*+, Germany had over a million people in the Germanarmy, over *, submarines, and -, warplanes. All of these thins violated theconditions in the Treaty of %ersailles.     Lastly,Hitlerunited people throuh racism.He outlawed a lot of music, such as #a//,since it came from aninferiorblack race. 'ooks that depicted Germany as the (illains$bad uys% of 0orld 0ar 1 was burned. Hitlercalled out reliious people, statin that

    reliious people were weak and behind on modern times.! 2ne such reliious roupwas the 3ews. Hitlerwould place full blame on Germany4s problems on the 3ews. Themaster race! was white, German5born citi/ens, with liht hair, liht eyes, and whomwere physically in shape. Hitler,usin the 3ews as his scapegoat $someone to blame%,ained much approval and was able to unite the German people usin a common enemy.
