By saying “Amen,” we are expressing the certainty that our prayers have been heard and will

be answered.

Why are we certain that when we pray the Lord’s Prayer, it is acceptable to God?

Matthew 6:9-13This, then, is how you

do what we ask.

Look at hymn 531 in Christian Worship. Which stanza is the hymn’s doxology? How could you tell? Find two other hymns

with doxologies.

Martin Luther once wrote about the Lord’s Prayer: “Like a child, I still suckle at it, and, like an old person, who cannot be satisfied, drink from

it and eat of it.” How did he feel about the Lord’s Prayer? Do all

Christians feel that way? Why or why not?

It’s wrong to say amen when someone else tells you

something you agree with, unless the conversation is about

God.

because God has the power to do anything.
