By saying “Amen,” we are expressing the certainty that our prayers have been heard and will

be answered.

praying for his kingdom and his glory.

Look up the word doxology in the dictionary. What two words does it come from, and what do they mean? What does the word

itself mean?

Search the Hymnal…

Look at hymn 531 in Christian Worship. Which stanza is the hymn’s doxology? How could you tell? Find two other hymns

with doxologies.

Martin Luther once wrote about the Lord’s Prayer: “Like a child, I still suckle at it, and, like an old person, who cannot be satisfied, drink from

it and eat of it.” How did he feel about the Lord’s Prayer? Do all

Christians feel that way? Why or why not?

It’s wrong to say amen when someone else tells you

something you agree with, unless the conversation is about

God.
