Dividing Decimals
Examples. Change the following so the second number is a whole number
It's very complicated to divide decimals by hand.
The easiest way to divide is to change the second number so that it is a whole number.
» you do this by counting how many spaces you move the decimal to the right.
» Keep in mind what you do to the one number you MUST do it to every number

Dividing Decimals
Examples
Once the second number is a whole number you can set up the long division.
» Wherever the decimal is in the first number it stays there on the long division answer.

Dividing FractionsWhen dividing fractions:
Switch ALL mixed fractions to improper fractions first!!!
Then we need to flip the second fraction.
When this flips, division flips to multiplication. Then we can multiply straight across
numerator x numerator denominator x denominator

The same rules apply for integers when dividing fractions.
÷ = +
