Activate emergency response

Check pulse

Start CPRCheck rhythm;

repeat if necessary

Unresponsive – no reaction to stimuli or treatment of a particular nature

Gasping – to breathe with quick, difficult breaths; to breathe in suddenly or loudly

Questions for the lay rescuer – YOU!

1. Is the victim unresponsive or gasping for air?

Answer: Yes Perform CPR

2. Does the victim have a definite pulse within 10 seconds?

Answer: No Perform CPR

Both answers must be correct

in order to proceed with CPR
