Library News We have over 10 million words read so far!

Congratulations to the classrooms

with over one million words read:

The physical education department has started

collecting grocery receipts for the Box Tops for

Education program. The coaches are asking for

your child(ren) to bring in your receipts. These

receipts will be scanned and will provide the

P.E. Dept. with extra funds to purchase more

equipment. The class that brings in the receipts

that amount to the most money will be provid-

ed with a free fitness day towards the end of

the six weeks. On another note, our next event

is the cross country meet on Saturday, October

26th. If your child would like to participate,

please have him/her see Coach Huerta. Thank

you again for all your support!

bullying! Wear orange in support of Unity Day.

THURSDAY: I dream of being drug free!

Dress up in pajamas and bring a stuffed animal.

FRIDAY: Team up against drugs!

Wear your favorite sports team attire.

UIL Tryouts: Tues 10/1 Grades 2 & 3

Thurs 10/3 Grades 4 & 5

Only students who signed up should stay for tryouts.

Students will receive dinner. If an event does not

have enough participants to make a team, students

may be asked to tryout for another event. Final team

rosters will be announced the week of October 7th.

Students will have their first practice on Thursday,

October 17th from 3:45-5:00.

Noticias de la biblioteca ¡Tenemos más de 10 millones de palabras

leídas hasta ahora! Felicidades a las aulas

con más de un millón de palabras leídas:

El departamento de educación física ha comen-

zado a recolectar recibos de supermercado para

el programa Box Tops para educación. Los en-

trenadores piden que sus hijos traigan sus recibos.

Estos recibos serán escaneados y proporcionarán

mas fondos al departamento de ducación fisica,

los cuales seran usados para comparer mas equi-

po dportivo. La clase que traiga los recibos que

ascienden con la mayor cantidad de dinero reci-

birá un día de acondicionamiento físico gratuito

hacia el final de las seis semanas. En otra nota,

nuestro próximo evento es el encuentro de atletis-

mo el sábado 26 de octubre. Si a su hijo le gus-

taría participar, pídale que vea al entrenador

Huerta. Gracias de nuevo por todo su apoyo!

Solo los estudiantes que se inscribieron deben

quedarse para las pruebas. Los estudiantes recibirán

la cena. Si un evento no tiene suficientes partici-

pantes para formar un equipo, se les puede pedir a

los estudiantes que audicionen para otro evento. Las

listas finales del equipo se anunciarán la semana del

7 de octubre. Los estudiantes tendrán su primera

práctica el jueves 17 de octubre de 3:45-5:00.

Dear parents, It has been a great first reporting period. Students have been eager and ready to learn. Let’s continue to practice the letter names and sounds, sight words, and fluency stories that are in the students binders. Also, please continue to bring students to school every day. Fluency is one of the components of reading.

It is important to practice reading high

frequency words and fluency stories. Your

child’s fluency goal for the month of October

is 35 words per minute. Let’s achieve this

goal! READ! READ! READ!

Second graders are exploring the use of language by writing daily. We already have many authors and poets among us! Sometimes, finding and correcting our writing errors is fun. We luv to fix hour miss takes? Can you find ours?

Fifth Grade Science! We have begun our second six weeks of Science! This reporting period we will be covering Circuits & Electricity, Light, and Experimenting

with Forces! We encourage you to log in to Stemscopes at home and take a look around the website to see how students can continue practicing their objectives. We would like to send a shout out to Francis Mejia, Giselle Flores, Josiah Resendez, Luis G. Gonzalez, and Jenevee Villarreal! They have the top word count in the 5th

Grade! We also encourage you to read up on informational text at home, as we will be studying it in the next six weeks!

Our third graders have picked up speed

on their word reading for AR. Who will

make it to our AR race track? You have

to have read 10,000 words to earn a

place on the race track. Mrs. Delgado’s

class is in first place for the total class-

room word count. Will Mr. Enriquez’ and

Ms. Salinas’ class catch up or surpass Mrs.

Delgado’s class? Check our third grade

Queridos padres, Estas primeras semanas de clases han sido excelentes. Los estudiantes estan entusiasma-dos por aprender. Por favor de continuar practicando las letras y sonidos, palabras de uso frecuente, e historias de fluídez que estan en las carpetas de tarea de los estudiantes. Tambien, sigan trayendo a sus hijos a la escuela todos los dias. Gracias!

Los estudiantes de segundo grado están explorando el uso del lenguaje escribiendo diariamente. ¡Ya tenemos muchos autores y poetas entre nosotros! A veces, encontrar y corregir nuestros errores de escritura es divertido.

de carreras. La clase de la Sra. Delgado

está en primer lugar para el recuento

total de palabras en su salon. ¿La clase del

Sr. Enríquez y la Sra. Salinas se pondrán

al día o superarán a la clase de la Sra.

La fluidez es uno de los componentes de la

lectura. Es muy importante practicar las

palabras de uso frecuente y las historias de

fluidez que se les dan a los niños para leer

en casa. La meta de lectura de su hijo/a

para el mes de octubre es leer 35 palabras

por minuto. ¡Vamos a cumplir esa meta!
