Lenten Lunch ‘n Study Thursdays, 12:00 - 1:00 PM
Legacy Hall, March 5 – April 2
(Bring your own Lunch)
Together we will journey from Jesus’ bap-
tism in the Jordan to the time of Passover
in Jerusalem as Jesus agonizes over the fate
that now awaits him. Along the way we
will discover the magnitude of God's love.
Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 4 | 12 - 2pm
Get your picture made with the Easter
Bunny at the Mauldin House in downtown
Clarkesville from 11 - 12:30, then come to

will have popcorn, a craft station, an egg
coloring contest, a ring toss, a balloon pop,
a bean bag toss, lots of sidewalk chalk, and
the BUNNY! Easter Egg Hunts will be from
1:00-1:30pm for ages birth-5th grade.
Maundy Thursday Thursday, April 9 | 7:00 pm
Maundy Thursday, also referred to as Holy
Thursday, is observed during Holy Week
on the Thursday before Easter. Maundy
Thursday commemorates the Last Supper
when Jesus shared the Passover meal with
His disciples on the night before He was
crucified. Our Maundy Thursday service,
with Holy Communion, will be in our
sanctuary. Please join us for this holy
night of remembrance.

FELLOWSHIP
From the Security Team BEWARE OF SCAMS: Fake Checks: You get a call saying you won a major prize, and you won’t even be responsible for the processing fee. They will offer to pay you more than the cost of the processing fee with a cashier’s check, then ask you to pay a portion of it back as a handling fee. The cashier’s check appears to clear the bank, but is eventually determined to be no good, leaving you without your merchandise and having paid a fee.
Welcome New Members On Feb. 16, 18 new members joined our church family:
Vern & Melissa Baggenstoss, William Bagwell, Jan Cline,
Joan Davis, Jeff & Christy Hinson, Ian & Anna Nesbit,
Stephanie Nicholson, Bailey Tam, Frank Thomas & Elizabeth
Dorman, Jim & Beth Threlkeld, Kevin & Georgette Tritt, and
Emily West.
During this season of Lent, it is important that we continue
our theme of Listening and Responding to the Holy Spirit.
Let each of us start by asking the Holy Spirit to convict and
regenerate our own Spirit. Secondly, ask the Holy Spirit to
allow us to see how God is working in our lives daily.
Thirdly, ask the Holy Spirit how we might be an encourager
to others by our words and works. Finally ask the Holy
Spirit that we as a church can truly communicate to our
community during the Lent and Easter season that
everyone deserves a second chance through Jesus Christ.
Valentine’s Day
Dinner The UMM Valentine’s Day
Dinner was a wonderful
event! We had fabulous
entertainment and a
catered dinner.
In His Service, Susan Weidner, Director, CFUMC Preschool
“Rooted in faith, growing in love"
As we prepare our preschoolers for Easter, they will learn about God's love in the story of the prodigal son. They will also learn that God wants us to serve others, just as Jesus did, when He washed the feet of the disciples. Jesus knew that God had a plan, but He prayed for God to find another way. Jesus was obedient and his friends were very sad when He died. They didn't know that God had a wonderful surprise planned for all who believe in Him.
Our Children's Ministry just wrapped up another awesome year of Service Quest. It was an
incredible picture to see how our church body rallied around our children to lead them by
example how to serve God and others! I would like to say thank you to each of our teachers
who served and took time out of their schedules to lead their class each night! This month, our
children's choir is resuming, and we are super excited! We are also getting ready for our first big
Children's Ministry event, "Kids’ Movie Night & Parents’ Night Out!" This event will be on March
27th from 5pm-9pm. We will be providing dinner for kids and helpers! Please continue to pray
for our volunteers and children as we desire and strive to train them up well in their relationships
with Christ!
Courtney Young, Children’s Director
Second Story Youth Hello, church family! CFUMC Youth has some really exciting
opportunities coming up for our youth. Our annual Converge retreat is just
around the corner. Please keep showering that weekend in prayer exuberance!
We're expecting the Holy Spirit to move big time as we gather at Camp Wood-
lands with several other youth groups from Habersham and the surrounding area.
Thank you for all the prayers and resources you send our way. The youth here are
eternally grateful for such a wonderful church family! God Bless!

YOUTH & CHILDREN
This year’s Easter Egg Hunt will be on Saturday, April 4. As we prepare for this big event, please take a look at your calendar and reserve that afternoon to volunteer for this awesome outreach event. If you would like to sign up to help, contact Courtney ([email protected]). Remember we will need lots of candy donations, too!
Our Contemporary Service has been blessed this past month with 8 new members joining at the 9am Service! To God
be the glory for the growth in our contemporary service! We are still averaging in the 80’s on Sunday mornings. We
are excited to continue to grow in Christ together. Please join us on a Sunday morning at 9am and experience the joy
and fellowship we are able to share at the feet of Jesus. Anyone who has a desire to serve through musical worship,
helping run the sound equipment, or being a door greeter; please contact Courtney Young. We would love to have
you serve with us. Please continue to pray that God moves in the hearts of all who enter into the Connection building
for Worship.

"Why Easter Matters" by Andy Stanley The text lifts up some of the people whose lives intersected with Jesus in the weeks leading to his crucifixion. Each of them had an agenda that put them at odds with God and Jesus. As you’ll see,
there’s a little bit of them in all of us. Led by Bruce Lower

THE GRAPEVINE, MARCH 2020
What is Saturate USA? Saturate USA is a God-sized vision to take the love of the Gospel to 60 million households by the end of 2020. The hope is to spark true repentance and revival in our beloved country.
How does one participate in Saturate USA? A local church or churches adopt a zip code within their community. Each church then hand delivers Saturate Packs, which include door hangers, DVDs, Gospel Tracts, contact information about each church and information about Clarkesville First UMC. CFUMC has partnered with eleven other churches within our community to distribute to zip code 30523. We have been assigned zone seven which includes 545 houses.
When will Clarkesville First UMC distribute the Saturate Packs? This is a church-wide event, so everyone is invited to participate. We will meet on Saturday, March 28 at 9:00 AM in the fellowship hall. We will take thirty minutes to distribute the packs and train everyone for going door to door.
How can I get more information about Saturate USA? For more information you may go to www.saturateusa.org.
