Lenovo Tab M10: Charging

1. Connect the AC power adapter to the USB cable.

2. Connect the USB cable to the tablet – the port is on the right hand side of the device, beneath the headphone jack and above the microphone and SIM card tray.

3. Plug the AC power adapter into an electricity outlet – ensure that the tablet has charged for at least 30 minutes before switching it on for the first time.

Lenovo Tab M10: Initial Setup - Inserting the SIM Card

1. Ensure the tablet is turned off before inserting the SIM card.

2. Locate the SIM card tray on the right hand side of the tablet.

3. Push the ejector tool (the small silver tool included with the tablet) into the hole in the SIM card tray.

4. Pull out the SIM card tray.

5. Insert the SIM card into the SIM card slot, ensuring that the gold chip is placed face down on the tray. Push the SIM card tray back into the tablet.

Lenovo Tab M10: Initial Setup – Switching on

1. Press and hold the power button (located on the left hand side of the device) until the Lenovo logo appears

2. If the device does not switch on:a. Please ensure you have charged the device for at least half an hourb. If it is still not working, contact Logistics on 03333444019 Option 1

Lenovo Tab M10: Language

1. Select your language - the default should be English (United Kingdom)

2. Tap Start to proceed

Note: While you can choose another language if preferred, we recommend using English (UK) if you wish to use this guide for reference

If you require accessibility options such as a screen reader or visibility enhancements, tap Vision settings on this screen before proceeding

If the SIM card has not already been inserted, you will need to do so in order to connect to a mobile network.

If the learner has not been gifted a SIM card, press Skip to move on to the next step

Lenovo Tab M10: MiFi

If the learner has a WiFi connection, or has been gifted a MiFi device, you can connect the tablet to the Internet.

1. Locate the name and password for the network (this is usually found on the router, or on the Keep Me Card that came with the MiFi device)

2. Tap on the network name and enter the password

3. Tap Connect then Next. Your tablet may take a moment to check for updates

Lenovo Tab M10: Date and Time

Select today’s date and the correct time. Please note this is important as if you use the default time some updates and features may not work properly.

If the tablet is connected to a mobile or WiFi network, the date and time will be calibrated automatically.

Lenovo Tab M10: Screen Lock

● Face-recognition: The device will capture a recording of the user’s face, allowing it to unlock when it recognises the person using it.

● Pattern - Draw a pattern on a 9x9 grid, covering at least 4 dots● PIN - Set a PIN with at least 4 digits. Remember to not use something too obvious

like your birthday or ‘1234’● Password - Set a password with at least 4 letters, numbers or symbols

The next screen will ask you to set up device protection using one of the following -this is highly recommended.

You will require this for future access - so remember what you choose or make a note somewhere safe

You will need to to read and agree to Google’s Terms of Service

Tap on the blue toggle on the right to turn each option on and off as preferred

When you’re ready, tap the blue Moreand then Accept button to proceed

TAP to select an item (for example, to open an app)

PRESS AND HOLD to see app information or other options

SWIPE across the screen to navigate between pages, or to scroll up and down

ZOOM by placing two fingers on the screen and sliding them apart (to zoom in) or together to zoom out)

Lenovo Tab M10: Home Screen

On the default home screen there is a Google Search bar and some useful apps

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see all of the pre-installed apps

You can install new apps by tapping Play Store on the Home screen.

The Notifications panel informs you of new messages, USB connection, and activities such as file downloading.

To see the Notifications panel, swipe down from the top of the screen.

To dismiss a notification, swipe left or right across the notification, or press CLEAR ALL to dismiss all notifications.

The Quick Settings icons allows you to quickly access frequently used settings e.g. WiFi and Bluetooth. To access Quick Settings, swipe down from the top of the screen twice.

In the settings you will find:

● Wi-Fi information and options● Battery level● Display settings (e.g. brightness)● Security options● Accessibility options

...and more! Access the settings by:

● Tapping on the cog app on your home screen

● Swiping down from the top of the tablet and tapping the cog icon in the top right

● Swiping up from the bottom of the tablet and tapping the Settings app

Lenovo Tab M10: Getting Back In

To access your tablet again later:

● Switch the device on (and off) using the power key - just hold for 2-3 seconds

● Remember the screen lock you set earlier? You’ll need this each time you switch your device back on, or if the screen locks, to keep your tablet secure

● If the tablet has gone to sleep or locked, press the power button to turn the screen back on, and swipe up from the bottom of the screen to unlock

Lenovo Tab E10: Troubleshooting

In this section we’ll cover some of the steps to follow if your device stops responding

Frozen screen/device can’t wake up from Sleep Mode

If the tablet is not responding to tapping and/or swiping, or is not waking up from Sleep Mode, press and hold the power key for at least 10 seconds to reboot the device.

Lenovo Tab M10: Restarting

If your tablet is still not responding, it may need to be restarted

Restart

If the tablet screen is on:

● Press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds until a white box appears (see image)

● Tap ‘Restart’ and wait for your device to turn itself off and on again

If the box does not appear, hold the power button for at least 10 seconds to turn the device off, then try starting up as normal.

Lenovo Tab M10: Troubleshooting

Blank screen or won’t turn on

Firstly, plug your tablet in to charge (see p.6)

We recommend leaving the tablet charging for 30 minutes before trying to turn it on again

Once charged, hold down the power button for 2-3 seconds

Lenovo Tab M10: Factory Reset

If rebooting is not working, or if the screen will not turn on after trying the previous steps, you may need to reset your device.

Please be aware this will reset your device and wipe all files, apps and settings, and so should only be done after all other troubleshooting tactics have failed. You will need to repeat the setup process once the factory reset has been completed.

Lenovo Tab M10: Factory Reset

1. Turn the tablet off by holding the Power button and selecting Power off.

2. Press and hold the Power button and Volume Up key until the Lenovo Logo appears

3. Once the Android Recovery Mode is visible, use the volume buttons to move the highlight to Wipe data/factory reset and press the power button

4. Use the volume up/down button to highlight Yes and press the power button

5. When the main menu reappears, press the power button to restart

6. You will now need to repeat the setup process.
