Mexico is always eagerly awaited by the teams and

drivers. It frequently serves as

a marker for the first part of

the season and gives an idea of

the respective strengths of the

different contenders. Tyre wear

is rarely an issue but the second passes can be quite

complex if the weather is hot. Friday’s El Chocolate

stage promises to be a big challenge once again.

It exceeds 30 kilometres in length, climbs to an

altitude of more than 2,650 metres and features

all the different types of roads and

conditions competitors come across in Mexico.”
