1. That this House notes:

The NSW Government is withdrawing funding for medical necessities for profoundly disabled residents at Grosvenor Centre in Summer Hill, including lifesaving oxygen tanks and breathing tubes . . ~ This funding withdraw;r is likely to severely impact the financial capacity of many families and residents at the~ Centre, many of whom can't walk, can't talk and are .tube fed.

The NSW Government is the only state or territory to totally vacate being a provider of services to people with a disability and they have used the NDIS to abdicate from their responsibilities.

2. That this House call on the Government to:

(a) Permanently maintain medical funding for the vulnerable residents at Grosvenor Centre in Summer Hill into the future

(a) the Australian Rugby Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation and since 2014 has been working at the heart of rugby in Australia supporting a vision to grow rugby by investing in grassroots/community rugby initiatives to inspire all Australians to enjoy the game of rugby, and

(b) the Australian Rugby Foundation's partnership with the Ramsay Foundation will see investment in the grassroots development of rugby in schools, including new Fifteens Schoolboys' Competitions in Queensland and New South Wales, as well as a budgeted program for the provision of coaching, team equipment, referee accreditation, game day costs, transport and marketing. ·

2. That this House acknowledges the outstanding work of the Australian Rugby Foundation and the generous support pf the Ramsay Foundation in developing and supporting rugby.

(b) a number of special guests and family members were present at the event including Ms Jo Haylen MP, Member for Summer Hill, Assistant Commissioner Peter Thurtell APM, Commander, South West Metropolitan Region, Superintendent David Johnson, Commander, Burwood Police Area Command, Chief Inspector Paul Martin, Burwood Police Area Command, Reverend Sarah Plummer, Senior Police Chaplain, Councillor Stephanie Kokkolis, Strathfield Council as well as the Honourable Scott Farlow MLC, Parliamentary Secretary to · the Premier, representing the Honourable Troy Grant MP, Minister for Police and Emergency Services.

2. That this House notes that:

(a) the awards ceremony is an opportunity to recognise police officers and civilian staff within the Burwood Police Area Command for their service and dedication to the New South Wales Police Force and the local community,

(b) there are more than 16,000 sworn police officers in New South Wales and over 4,000 unswom members of the force providing logistical and administrative services to front line and supervisory members of the Police Force, and

(c) a number of medals, awards and warrants were issued to both commissioned and non-commissioned officers during the ceremony, including the National Police Service Medal, the National Medal and the New South Wales Police Medal.

(a) on 11 November 2018, Poland celebrated National Independence Day which was the anniversary of Poland's reclamation of its independence one hundred years ago,

(b) more than 52,000 people of Polish ancestry call NSW home who, along with their predecessors, have worked hard to build successful lives while continuing to celebrate their traditions and culture,

(c) on Friday 26 October, the Polish Association of Newcastle held it's IOO'h Anniversary of Poland Regaining Independence celebration and the Official opening of the 'Celebrating the Polish community in Australia, Newcastle and Hunter Valley exhibition' at The Polish Cultural Centre in Broadmeadow

( d) the exhibition and celebrations featured Historical displays, Polish arts and crafts, short Polish films, Polish national costumes, exhibition of paintings, Greta Migrant Camp display, Polish music and Polish food tasting

(e) one of the Poles who feature as part of the exhibition was Pawel Strzelecki who first identified rich coal deposits in the Hunter Valley that would transform the region into an industrial powerhouse, and

(f) the following people attended the celebration: (i) the Hon Taylor Martin MLC representing the Minister for Multiculturalism,

the Hon Ray Williams MP, (ii) the Member for Newcastle, Sharon Claydon MP (iii) Cr Matthew Byrne from Newcastle City Council (iii) Ms Janina Sulikowski, President, Polish Association ofNewcastle, and (iv) other members of the Polish Association ofNewcastle committee.

(a) on Saturday 10 November 2018 the Brent Kelly Foundation held their inaugural 'Hearts Under the Stars' Foundation dinner at the Australian National Maritime Museum,

(b) the Brent Kelly Foundation is a registered national charity formed to raise community awareness and access to life saving defibrillators,

(c) the charity was formed by Lisa Kelly after her husband Brent Kelly, aged 39, passed away, suffering a severe heart attack at Fagan Park May 2017 whilst running with his daughter,

(d) the Foundation's purpose is to collaborate, assist and influence all levels of Government, the health, medical and research industry, corporations and community groups to allow every Australian access to a life-saving defibrillator when having a sudden cardiac arrest,

(e) more than 33,000 Australians experience cardiac arrest every year and early access to CPR and defibrillation can influence survival rates by up to 75 per cent,

(f) more than 2,500 defibrillators will be installed at community sporting facilities over the next four years as part of the $4 million Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Prograin introduced by Minister Ayres in 2017, and

(g) those who attended as special guests included: (i) the Honourable Shayne Mallard MLC representing the Minister for Sport and

(a) on Wednesday 17 October 2018 the Sydney Harbour Bridge celebrated another milestone with the opening of state of the art lifts at both ends of the Bridge allowing pedestrian access for everyone,

(b) those who attended the opening included: (i) the Honourable Melinda Pavey MP, Minister for Roads, Maritime and

Freight, (ii) Felicity Wilson MP, Member for North Shore, (iii) the Honourable Natalie Ward MLC,

( c) construction began in March 2018 at a cost of $15 million, with 400 people working on the lift project, and

( d) the new lift can take 27 people or two wheelchairs and two carers, making access that much easier for the 3,000 plus pedestrians that make their way across the bridge daily.

2. That this House acknowledges the attendance at the opening of Mrs Daphne Dunne, 98 years old, widow of Lt Albert Chowne VCMM, who as a school girl, walked across the Bridge when it was opened in 1932.

(a) on 27 October 2018 the Korea Day Festival was held m Eastwood Park, Eastwood, and

(b) a number of dignitaries and special guests were present at the event including the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, the Honourable Ray Williams MP, the Honourable Victor Dominello MP Minister for Finance, Services and Property, Ms Jodi Mckay MP, Member for Strathfield, Mr Byung Soo Ryu, President of the Korean Society of Sydney and the Honourable Scott Farlow MLC, Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier.

2. That this House notes that:

(a) the Korean Society of Sydney has a proud tradition of excellence in conununity involvement since its establishment in 1968, with the annual Korea Day Festival being the largest event organised by the Korean Society of Sydney,

(b) the Korea Day Festival is a historic and momentous event which is used to introduce Korean culture and tradition to the multicultural ethnic communities within Sydney and New South Wales, with a variety of traditional Korean cuisines, cultural performances and Korean Art being displayed as part of the. Festival's programme, and

(c) events such as the Korea Day Festival highlight the relationship between ethnic conununities and the state of New South Wales, with more than 66,000 residents in New South Wales claiming Korean ancestry.

(b) This year was the 111 th Show, making the Mullumbimby Agricultural Show Society the longest running not for profit community organisation in the Byron Shire,

( c) The Show supports, educates and promotes agricultural, horticultural and pastoral excellence and innovation, and

(d) This year's Show included arts, crafts, baking and horticultural competitions, as well as Showgirl, Show Ambassador and excavator soccer events, a Young Farmers Team Challenge and a demolition derby.

2. That this House congratulates:

(a) 2018 Mullumbimby Showgirl-Ashleigh Hartley,

(b) 2018 Mullumbimby Show Ambassador - Eva Brooke, and

( c) All the competition winners.

(a) on Friday 10 November 2018, the Marsden Law.Group celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Cube, Campbelltown,

(b) Marsdens was established by the late John Marsden AM in a newly emerging township ofCampbelltown in 1968,

( c) Marsdei5went on to grow along with the rapidly growing suburbs of South West Sydney and the Macarthur region, ·

(d) Marsdens early partners were John Marsden AM, Jim Marsden AM and former New South Wales Premier John Fahey AC,

(e) John Marsden AM was a strong social justice advocate campaigning for homosexual law reforms, affordable access to justice and indigenous recognition,

(f) today Marsdens is still proudly deeply rooted in the South Western communities with five offices and 180 personnel,

(g) the Marsdens Law group is now headed by Jim Marsden AM who received a medal of the Order of Australia for his community work in 2013,

(h) Marsdens has always exemplified the Marsden family philosophy of giving back to the community and care for social justice,
