CUT THE TOP AND BOTTOM RAILSMark your required net width dimension less theappropriate deduction as listed below.Cut the rails to size.

Dimensions for recess-mount DIY kit:Single door: Deduct from opening width 2-3/8” Before CuttingDouble door: Deduct from opening width 4-1/8” Before Cutting

Dimensions for surface-mount DIY kit:Single door: Deduct 1-7/8“ from opening width before cuttingDouble door: Deduct 3-1/8” from opening width before cutting

Next take the two side guide rails, cut them (Fig.2),crimp the very ends of each extrusion with pliers (Fig.3).Crimping these ends is critical because this will preventthe insect piling from moving within the rails.

CUT THE DUAL-MOUNT SIDE RAIL WITH MAGNETSINGLE DOORS ONLYThe side rail with magnet is used on single screens. On double screen applications a second cassette isused instead of the side rail with magnet. END CAP ASSEMBLYTurn your attention to the cut end of the housing.Position and insert the end cap with speed reducer andalignment bushing inside the screen tube as shown(Fig.5). Make certain to align the notch on the bushingto the internal tube groove and fully insert bushing;now, push the end cap pins into their openings, and tapevenly with a soft mallet until the end cap is flush withthe end of the housing. Fix it using screws.Note: it is critical that the bushing (adjacent to the endcap) is fully engaged inside the screen roll tube beforeattaching end cap.

PULL BAR END CAP ASSEMBLYInsert one end cap (b-c) in each side of pull bar (e) andinsert the pull bar end cap (d) into the end of the pullbar and tap in place using a soft mallet. (Fig.7)

SLIDE BOLT ASSEMBLYDOUBLE SCREEN ONLYDetermine which screen will be the passive panel. The passive screen is the side used less often. The slide bolts allow the passive screen to be lockedopen (in place) until you are ready to retract the screen. On the passive screen, slide the slide bolts into the trackof the pull bar; one slide bolt on both ends. Dependingon preference, the slide bolts can be installed on eitherthe inside or outside of the screen. (Fig.6)

INSTALLATION

NOTE: It is critical that the cassette and rails be installed square and plumb in the opening. If needed use shims to square screen components in the opening.

INSTALLING THE CASSETTE

9-A Recess Installation: Use screws to install two Recess Mounting Clips to the door frame (Fig.8a).

Snap the Cassette onto the mounting clips (Fig.8a).

Clip the case onto the bracket. Next the guides intothe case side ends (Fig.9a). Fix the guides onto thewall. Use the small pile opener (Fig.10a) to help youto reach the screws).

9-B Surface Installation:Position the cassette, insert screws in L-Clips tosecure the screen cassette to the frame (Fig.8b).

9

POSITIONING THE RAILS

10-A Single screen: slide the bottom rail fully ontothe tab on the cassette end cap. Make certain thatthe pull bar end caps rest up on the glide railplatforms within the bottom guide rail (not belowwithin the protected screw chamber area) Repeat thisstep for the top rail (the larger of the rails).Position the opposite edges of the bottom/top railswithin the edges of the side rail and gently movethe rails into position within the door opening. (Fig.9a)NOTE: the top & bottom rail each has a decorative trimgroove on one side. The groove should always faceoutward (away from the door).

10-B Double Screens: slide the bottom rail fully onto the tab on the end cap of the installed cassette. Repeat this step for the top rail (the taller of the rails).

On the opposite end of the rails, insert the tabs of the secondCassette into the bottomand then the top rail.

Move the cassette and rails intoposition within the door openingthen clip the second cassette intothe recess mounting clips. (Fig.9b)

Secure the rails with screws12-A Recess installation:When installing the bottom and top guide rail it ishelpful to press and slide the convenient plastic pileopener into the rail to temporarily separate the insectpile to see and work within. This is useful wheninstalling the screws. Remove and discard the plasticpile opener when finished.Position the screen in the opening. Secure the bottomguide rail, top guide rail and side magnetic profile(single screens only), with screws.Note: 30x22 top /22 x22 bottom12-B Surface installation:Top rail: drill two 3/8” holes evenly spaced through theface (one side only) of the rail. Using these holes as aguide, drill 1/8” holes through the rear side of the rails.Using the larger 3/8” holes for access, insert screwsinto the 1/8” holes and secure the rails to the entrywith screws. Complete the installation by inserting therubber plugs into the access holes.Note: 30x22 top /22 x22 bottomBottom rail: using the decorative trim groove as aguide (staying underneath the glide platforms insidethe rail), drill three 1/8” holes evenly spaced throughboth sides of the rail. Secure the rail to the entry withscrews; do not over tighten.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

It is difficult to pull the retractable screen across the opening or the retractablescreen seems to bounce as it opens and closes.

The retractable screen bends or will notretract into the cassette housing properly

Insect pile moves in the topor bottom rails

Screen handles hit or rubon door hardware

Screen falls out of the top guide

The door bottom threshold has a steepslope causing the retractable screenbottom guide to be on an angle whenmounted

Screen is torn or damaged

The magnets of the screen do not fullyseal or the screen does not close evenly

Check the top and bottom guide for screws that may not have been driven flush into the guidescausing the screen to dragClean any debris from inside the bottom guideMake sure that the cassette housing has a 90° cut. If not, trim so it is a straight cut.Check to insure that both end cap bushings (item “D”) are fully inserted inside screen tube. A bouncing effect is a sign that one or ore bushings may not be correctly installed.Check to see if the pull bar is rubbing and needs to be trimmed downCheck to see that the plastic pull bar end cap is gliding on the glide rails within the bottom railtrack and not underneath the glide rails within the screw chamber. The retractable screen bends or will not retract into the cassette housing properly

See above stepsMake sure that the screen fabric has a clean cut and is not jagged; if so, trim so it is a straight cutCheck to see if either the housing or inner tube have been twisted, bent or otherwise damagedduring shipping

Ends of the insect pile and aluminium track need to be crimped together to prevent movement Raise or lower the handle so that it no longer strikes the door hardware

Height measurements may be off. If the unit was cut too short, shim up along bottom.Pull bar may be cut too short. Check measurements and consult the cutting instructionsCheck to see if the floor is level and the opening is square; apply shims as needed

The bottom guide should always be as level as possible. Use wedge shims to adjust andfor support until the bottom rail is level.

Replace the mesh using a screen refill kit

Clean the magnet using a mild soap and waterClean any debris from inside the bottom guide. When not properly maintained, debris canaccumulate and interfere with the operation of the screen as well as the screens closing andseal capabilities.
