Stressed Dads Want to Make Everything Right

Unspoken NeedFathers desperately want their wives and

children to be proud of them.

Hezekiah• He was a man who overcame an evil

household (2 Chronicles 28:1-4,19-21,27).• Hezekiah became his own man (2 Chronicles

29:1-6).• 2 Kings 18:5, “He trusted in the LORD God of

Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him.”

Hezekiah• The king of Assyria, Sennacherib came up

against Israel ( 2 Kings 18:13).• Israel was threatened and Sennacherib tried

to get them to turn against God (2 Kings 18:28-29).

• Hezekiah goes to God in prayer to protect his family (2 Kings 19:14-19).

A Turn For the Worse• Hezekiah’s health problems (Isaiah 38:1-8).• He becomes a changed man (Isaiah 39:1-4).

His words are chilling about his legacy.

Fathers Can Overcome• A man can overcome a

bad childhood and negative influences.

• He is not bound by man’s fleshly version of a macho man.

• A father is a very powerful influence in the success of a child.

only piece on the board.
