LIGHTING CONTROLSWATTSTOPPER®
WWW.LEGRAND.US/WATTSTOPPER
WATTSTOPPER®FIXTURE SENSORS & CONTROLS
DescriptionThe FSP-211 mounts in an outdoor lighting fixture and provides multi-level control based on motion and/or daylight contribution. It controls 0-10 VDC LED drivers or dimming ballasts, as well as non-dimming ballasts and, with an FSP-Lx Lens, is rated for wet and cold locations. All control parameters are adjustable via a wireless configuration tool capable of storing and transmitting sensor profiles.
OperationTypically, the sensor ramps lighting On to the selected High mode level when motion is detected and the ambient light level is below the hold off setpoint. After the sensor stops detecting movement and the time delay elapses, lights fade to the Low mode level. If there is no motion during the subsequent cut off time delay, the lights will turn Off. For dusk to dawn control, the integral photocell can switch the lights On and Off based on the ambient light level so that lighting remains on overnight even without motion detection.
Wireless Handheld Configuration ToolInitial setup and subsequent sensor adjustments are made using a handheld configuration tool (FSIR-100). This tool enables adjustment of parameters including high and low modes, sensitivity, time delay, cut off and more. The FSIR-100 is also used to initiate automatic calibration of the FSP-211 ambient light level setpoint. The setpoint is used to hold the controlled lighting off or at low level when there is sufficient daylight. The wireless tool stores up to six sensor parameter profiles to speed configuration of multiple sensors.
ApplicationsThe slim, low-profile FSP-211 is designed for installation inside the bottom of a light fixture body. When fully assembled and installed in an IP66-rated fixture, the sensor and FSP-Lx lenses are IP66 outdoor rated. The sensor is ideal for areas such as parking facilities, gas stations, pedestrian pathways and warehouses. A choice of four lenses ensures complete coverage for mounting heights up to 40’.

WATTSTOPPER®FIXTURE SENSORS & CONTROLS
DescriptionThe HBP Series High Bay Passive Infrared (PIR) Occupancy Sensors provide automatic control of individual LED and fluorescent lighting fixtures in warehouses and other indoor high and low bay spaces. The lens is engineered to provide reliable coverage from a wide range of mounting heights (15’ to 40’), and coverage can be masked for aisleway applications using a snap-on accessory (included). A hold-off daylighting feature keeps lighting off when the ambient light level is above the selected threshold. Time delay and light level settings can be adjusted via function-specific trimpots. The HBP-111 can also be adjusted remotely using a wireless configuration tool.
OperationLine voltage HBP sensors are designed to mount directly to a lighting fixture, and can be wired to control some or all of the drivers or ballasts. When the sensor detects motion, the relay closes, and the connected loads are automatically turned on. When motion is no longer detected for the duration of the time delay setting, the relay opens and the lighting load is turned off. The sensor’s time delay and hold-off light level are factory preset at 15 minutes and 300 footcandles, respectively, suitable for most high bay applications.
Wireless Remote Configuration ToolInitial setup and subsequent sensor adjustments of the HBP-111 may be made using a handheld configuration tool (FSIR-100). This tool simplifies adjustment of parameters including sensitivity, time delay and hold-off level with maximum granularity. The FSIR-100 is also used to enable or disable advanced features, including burn-in mode, walk-through mode, visual alert and occupancy mode. The wireless tool stores up to five sensor parameter profiles to speed configuration of multiple sensors.
Hold-off DaylightingThe hold-off daylighting light level feature provides additional energy savings. Once the lights turn off after the time delay has elapsed, this feature holds lighting off upon new occupancy if there is sufficient ambient light available.
ApplicationsThe high bay occupancy sensor is ideal for applications in warehouses, distribution centers, gymnasiums, and other high and low bay indoor spaces. The optional HBP-EM1 Extender Module provides additional mounting flexibility.

FS-555
FS-555C
WWW.LEGRAND.US/WATTSTOPPER
WATTSTOPPER®FIXTURE SENSORS & CONTROLS
DescriptionThe FS-555 and FS-555C Line Voltage Ultrasonic Fixture Sensors control lighting based on occupancy. They are designed with a low-profile, architecturally pleasing appearance to easily integrate into a wide range of lighting fixtures or a customized housing.
OperationWhen powered on, the FS-555 Series sensors use high frequency (40 kHz) ultrasonic technology to sense motion within a space and automatically turn lights on even when the sensor has no direct line of sight to occupants. After the area is vacated and the time delay has elapsed, the sensors automatically turn the lights off. Ultrasonic detection operates by transmitting sound waves throughout an area and measuring the speed at which they return. Movement increases the return frequency, which triggers occupancy.
The FS-555 Series sensors provide functions for testing, overriding the fixture ‘ON’ and a 100-hour lamp burn-in mode.
ApplicationsTypical applications for the FS-555 Series sensors include open office cubicles, offices, conference rooms, restrooms and hallways. This technology also provides superior detection in hard surfaced areas, such as stairwells and hallways.
For a large rectangular detection area with ceiling-mounted fixtures, the FS-555C provides excellent coverage. For specialized applications such as stairwells, the elongated coverage pattern of the FS-555 is ideal.
The FS-555 can provide bi-level lighting control in fixtures that have bi-level or dimming ballasts, resulting in up to 66% energy savings for fixtures that are on 24-hours a day, seven days a week, while still providing enough light for safety and egress.

COVERAGE PATTERNThe coverage pattern is determined by sensor model, mounting height and the angle of the sensor, relative to the coverage area floor. The coverage shown represents full-step walking motion in a carpeted area, with no barriers or obstacles at a mounting height of 8 to 10 feet. Mounting above or below this range significantly affects coverage patterns.Obstacles such as furniture or partitions, wall, ceiling and floor treatments can cause the coverage area to be less or more than the sensing distances shown in the coverage pattern. This must be considered when planning the number of sensors and their placement.Place sensors at least 4 feet away from air supply ducts. For complete coverage in open areas, install multiple sensors to provide a 20% overlap with each adjacent sensor’s coverage area.
Top view, FS-555C coverage pattern, sensor mounted 8’ high, parallel to floor
Top view, FS-555 coverage pattern, sensor mounted 20o from vertical
Figure 6. Figure 7.
SENSOR ADJUSTMENTBefore making adjustments, install furniture, turn lighting circuits on, and set HVAC systems to the overridden/on position. VAV systems should be set to their highest airflow. Set the Time Delay to the desired setting. See Time Delay Switches on the next page.
To Test Occupancy Sensors1. Set the Sensitivity adjustment to about mid-range.2. Activate the Test Mode using the test mode button.3. Move out of the controlled area - the lights will turn off in about 5 seconds from the last flash of the LED.* If the LED continues
to flash, the sensor is detecting some kind of movement. Change the sensitivity adjustment to a lower setting (a few degrees counterclockwise) and repeat this step until the LED does not flash and the lights turn OFF.
4. * If Reverse-Occupancy is enabled (the lighting load is wired to a normally closed contact and the sensor’s Occupancy Mode Switch is ON), operation of the load is also reversed during Test Mode. For example, at this stage of testing, the lights will turn ON in about 5 seconds from the last flash of the LED. See Occupancy Mode Switch for more information.
5. Walk into the controlled area. If the lights don’t turn ON, increase the sensitivity (a few degrees clockwise) and try again. Repeat this procedure until the LED does not flash and the lights turn OFF. If the lights turn OFF while the room is occupied, it may be necessary to increase the sensitivity.
6. Allow the test period to expire or push the test button again. The sensor will now be in its operating mode.
Adjustment Features
Figure 8.
LEDThe LED flashes every time the sensor detects motion. The LED is also used to indicate other sensor status such as test mode, lamp burn-in, and override. When the LED flashes at a constant rate of one second on then one second off, the sensor is in the Burn-In Mode. When the sensor is in test mode the LED flashes to indicate occupancy detections. When the sensor is in Override Mode the LED glows steady.
4
TIME DELAY SWITCHESThe sensor will hold the lights ON as long as occupancy is detected. The time delay countdown starts when no motion is detected. After no motion is detected for the length of the time delay, the sensor will turn the lights OFF.
TEST MODE BUTTONThis button is used to select the operating mode for the FS-555.
• A momentary press invokes the Test Mode.• Press and hold for 5 seconds to invoke the lamp Burn-In Mode.• Press and hold for 15 seconds to Override the sensor output.
The LED lights to indicate how long the button is held. Initially, the LED is cleared when the button is pressed. After 5 seconds it will turn ON for 1 sec, then OFF for 1 sec, and after 15 seconds the LED stays ON.
Test ModeThe purpose of the test mode is to be able to quickly determine the coverage area of the sensor without waiting for a lengthy time delay. Test Mode is a temporary state that provides a 5 minute test period. During the test period, the Time Delay is only 5 seconds. After 5 minutes the sensor returns to the time delay set on the Time Delay switches. To exit from the Test Mode, push the button again or wait for it to time out.
OverrideTo override sensor functions so that the load stays ON, push and hold the button for 15 seconds. Depending on the setting of the Occupancy Mode switch, the output could be overridden ON or OFF. The LED is ON in a steady state when the sensor is in the Override Mode. To turn off the Override Mode, momentarily push the button again.
BURN-IN MODESome lamp and ballast manufacturers recommend running lamps at full output for their first 100 hours of operation. The burn-in function initiates a 100-hour burn-in period. To start the burn-in process, push and hold the button for 5 seconds. The lamps will stay on for 100 hours continuously regardless of occupancy status. After 100 hours, the sensor returns to normal function. To indicate the sensor is in burn-in mode, the LED flashes rapidly and continuously for the full 100 hours. To turn off the burn-in mode, momentarily push the button again.
OCCUPANCY MODE SWITCHWhen the sensor is used with a normally closed relay, the Occupancy Mode Switch can be set for fail-ON functionality, or reverse-occupancy operation. To use the normally closed relay, wire the lighting load to the NC and COM terminals as shown in Figure 9.
FAIL-ON FUNCTIONALITYTo enable Fail-ON functionality, set the Occupancy Mode Switch to ON and wire the load as shown in Figure 9. In this configuration, the sensor works normally, meaning that it turns ON the lights when there is occupancy, and turns OFF the lights when the Time Delay expires. Should the sensor fail, the lights turn ON.
REVERSE-OCCUPANCY FUNCTIONALITYIf the switch is set to OFF in the N/C wiring configuration, the operation will be reversed. The lights turn ON when there is no occupancy, and turn OFF when there is occupancy.

The sensor will hold the lights ON as long as occupancy is detected. The time delay countdown starts when no motion is detected. After no motion is detected for the length of the time delay, the sensor will turn the lights OFF.
To override sensor functions so that the load stays ON, push and hold the [TEST MODE] button for 15 seconds. Depending on the setting of the Occupancy Mode switch, the output could be overridden ON or OFF. The LED is ON in a steady state when the sensor is in the Override Mode. To turn off the Override Mode, momentarily push the button again.
