▪ IF THEN – if you do this then you get that (expected reward, only

works on ~20% of employees)

▪ NOW THAT – now that you accomplished X, I will give you a reward

(unexpected by employee, if it’s done too often then it becomes an IF

THEN expected reward, so be very careful how this is used)

▪ SOCIAL RECOGNITION – take time to know your subordinates and

supervisors as people, get to know them and care about them as a

real human. (doesn’t cost a thing, but must be genuine)

▪ SELF RECOGNITION/INTRINSIC – when it only matters what you

think about yourself (how can you reward yourself with

accomplishments? Get passed your own insecurities about self-

worth, make your own goals to achieve, practice acknowledging

yourself)

While the term "infomercial" was originally applied only to

television advertising, it is now sometimes used to refer

to any video presentation which presents a significant

amount of information in an actual, or perceived, attempt

to promote a point of view.
