Programs & Resources ASK  For  Social  Justice  Annual  program  held  for  the  community  to  explore  Attitudes,  Skills,  &  Knowledge  necessary  to  promote  social  justice.        

Mitsiko  Sawada  Resource  Library  Offers  a  multitude  of  books,  magazines,  articles,  and  videos  focused  on  multiculturalism  and  social  justice.    

International  Family  &  Friends  Program  Pairs  new  international  students  with  a  staff  or  faculty  member  to  provide  additional  support  far  from  home.  

Khalo  Gallery  Exhibit  space  that  showcases  work  from  underrepresented  artists/and  or  work  about  underrepresentation.  

Peer  Mentorship  Program  (PMP)  Matches  incoming  and  returning  multicultural  students  to  help  with  acclimation  to  life  at  Hampshire  College.  

Publications  The  Inside  news  magazine  gives  voice  to  the  stories,  struggles,  and  achievements  of  our  multicultural  community.  

      What makes our Cultural Center unique and necessary?

It’s  a  home  away  from  home.    

Multiple  student  groups  coexist  in  one  space  that  supports  their  needs.    

The  student-­‐driven  programs  provide  experience  with  collaboration  creativity,  and  project  implementation.  

 There  is  support  of  intersecting  identities-­‐students  can  participate  in  multiple  

groups,  expressing  and  engaging  their  different  selves.    

Student’s  initiatives  and  social  activism  are  supported  and  encouraged.    

Students’  can  examine  racial/cultural  complexities  and  difference,  and  get  to  know  others  and  seek  where  they  are  in  their  exploration  of  self.  

 It’s  a  space  to  hold  safe  discussions,  where  “race”  is  not  a  bad  word.

Then  join  one  or  more  of  the  10  multicultural  student  groups  that  are  based  in  the  Cultural  Center!    The  groups  have  a  long  history  of  organizing  a  number  of  impactful  initiatives  that  look  at  community  building,  campus  awareness,  and  institutional  change  on  topics  related  to  race,  under-­‐representation,  and  social  justice.    For  information  about  how  to  get  involved  with  a  specific  SOURCE  group,  email  SOURCE:  [email protected].

DIG!  Supports  Indigenous  Students    FISH  “Forum  of  International  Students  at  Hampshire”  supports  a  range  of  nationalities  and  cultures.    James  Baldwin  Scholars  Supports  students  and  alumni  of  the  James  Baldwin  Scholars  program.    

Mosaic  Supports  students  of  mixed  heritage/race.      MOCA  “Men  of  Color  Alliance”  supports  men  of  color.    PASA  “Pan  Asian  Student  Alliance”  supports  students  of  Asian  descent.        Raíces  Supports  students  of  Latin@  descent.  

QIPOC  “Queer  International  &  People  of  Color”  supports  queer  students.      SISTERS  Supports  women  of  color  and  international  women.    UMOJA  Supports  students  of  African  descent.
