The Country we are visiting tonight is
In India The Guiding and Scouting movements are combined, coming together for Jamborees and campfires, but holding their mettings separate. They are known as the Bahart Scouts and Guides. (Bahart is the ancient name for India.)
"I am the being, who in spite of my miry surroundings, have remained untouched and stood up to be the exemplar of beauty and purity."
If the lotus could speak it would have said these words and bragged about itself which is so unlikely for the humble lotus. It has been the symbol of detachment from worldly desires and illusions according to the Hindu religious scriptures. It symbolized purity in the true sense of the term in spite of its seed being the stagnant water. Lotus symbolizes Life ever renewed and revitalized when it peeks out of the muddy waters every morning.
CHALLENGE TWO
With you patrol find around the room the 6 pieces of Bulbul uniform and create the Bulbul.
Once your patrol has done this. Stop. Jump up and down three times shouting “RUBBER CHICKEN!”, touch your toes and sit with your left hand on your head and your right hand on your left knee.
WAGGGS Has 4 world centres world wide. Pax Lodge, Our Cabana, Our Chalet and Sangam. Sangam is the youngest of the 4 and is on the banks of the Mula Mula river, in Pune, India.
The name “Sangam” means “Coming Together”, and the emblem symbolises the totality and movement of life.
The three arches of the entrance symbolise the original three part promise, while the ten arches om the roof represent the ten Guide Laws.
Sangam was officially opened in 1966 by Lady Baden-Powell.
