Protecting marine and coastal ecosystems is the focus of Blue Solutions, a project funded by the German Government. The project promotes the exchange of knowledge

between projects and organisations involved in coastal and marine management. One of its roles is to collect information on best practices. It shares this bundled knowledge via a website and through films and workshops, with a reach that extends from the local level to the international arena.

Global Ideas – this is the title of a series of reports transmitted worldwide by Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster, with the support of the German Government.

In an engaging way and in five different languages, the series presents exemplary initiatives for protecting biodiversity in developing and newly industrialising countries. The films are not only broadcast on Deutsche Welle’s television channel but

are also available on the Internet. Background articles, photo galleries and audiovisual presentations provide additional information. DVDs of the series can be used by schools and educational institutions worldwide as teaching materials.
