The Flying School itself continues a well-established tradition of flying training from Old
Sarum which has existed since the Airfield’s creation in the First World War. English
Heritage describes Old Sarum as the best preserved flying field of the period. Whilst
civilian flight training has only been carried out since the 1980s, Old Sarum has a good
track record of producing very competent private pilots, and this is a tradition we are
proud to continue. Whether your intention is to learn to fly simply for fun, or to fulfill a
lifelong ambition (whatever your age!), we think you’ll struggle to find a better
combination of location and atmosphere, together with a flying school which prides itself
on safe, high quality tuition.
Flying lessons – at present we are able to offer Flight Training for the following courses:
PPL (Private Pilots Licence), NPPL (National Private Pilots Licence, IMC Rating, Glass
Cockpit Conversions, and Flying Companions Courses.
Trial flying lessons gift vouchers – we offer trial flying lessons for either 20 minute, 30
minute or full hour periods. We also offer flight training and trial lesson gift vouchers in
our vintage 1930s Tiger Moth biplane.
We are also an ELCAS provider (Provider ID 3103). Please contact us for further details;
serving military personnel may be able to claim ELCAS credits against the cost of flight
training.
We also have solo hire rates, and offer a membership scheme for frequent flying
