Wehopeyouhavealreadycaughtthedivingbug,itusuallytakesjustonetry!
OurLearntoDiveProgramme sessionsfollowaclearlydefinedstructureinlinewithBritishDivingdirectivesandisthefeederprogrammefortheCambridgeDiveTeam.Itisagreatwayforchildrentoimprovebalance,coordinationandconfidenceinafun,relaxedandfriendlyenvironment.ThisinformationpackintendstoexplainaboutthekeyelementsofourLearntoDiveProgrammeandprovidesomeinformationabouttheclub,whichwehopeyouwillfinduseful.
TherearesixlevelsintheLearntoDiveProgrammeandwithineachleveltherearespecifickeyskills.Alldiverswillstartatlevel one,learningbasicbodycontrol,introducingshapesintojumpsoffthepoolside,aswellasforwardandbackwardrollsintothewater. Workingthroughthelevels,diversprogresstohandfirstentriesandjumpsoffthe1mand3mspringboards,aswellasthe5mplatform.Atlevelsix;diverswillbeperformingforwardandbackwarddivesoffthespringboards.
Ourcoachingschemefollowsatwelveweekcycle.Skillassessmentsarecontinualandwealsoholdformalassessments,whichtakeplaceduringweekeightofeachcoachingcycle.Theformalassessmentsareoneofourmeasurestoensurethatyourchildisplacedinthebestgroupinordertoachievetheirfullpotentialandofcoursetohavesomefunalongthejourney.Diversarenotexpectedtopassalevelaftereachandeverycoachingcycle.Wesometimesmovechildrenbothupanddownthroughthelevelsiftheyarestrugglingorexcellinginoneparticularelementofthedivingprogramme.
LearntoDivemembershaveonlineaccessthroughtheirmembershipportaltoviewtheirprogressintheLearntoDiveprogramme.Thisallowsparentsandchildrentoseewhentheyhavepassedaskillandtoalsoseewhichskillstheyarestillworkingtowards.Thecoachwillalsowriteacommentatthebeginningofeachnewcoachingcycle(everytwelve/thirteenweeks).Theseaimtoprovideeachchildfurtherfocusedhelpandguidance,sothattheyunderstandwhattheycouldtrytodotoimproveandtheyalsotakeamomenttopraisethemforgreatperformance.
Whenadivercanconsistentlydemonstratethekeyskillswithinagivenleveltotherequiredstandard,theywillmovetothenextlevelintheprogramme.

PleasenotethatadivermayonlyparticipateinLearntoDiveleveloneforamaximumoftwoterms.Theideabehindthisisithighlightsthattheparticipantisstrugglingwiththebasicfundamentalsofdiving.Withoutachievingcompetencyandunderstandingofthesebasicskills,futureprogressionanddevelopmentislimited.Thissystemalsoallowsothersonourwaitinglistachancetodive,whichisanimportantpartofacompetitiveprogramme.
Confidence,age,co-ordination,physicalityandmentalmaturityareallcharacteristics,whichaffectwhetherachildhastheabilitytoachievetheleveloneskills.

SessionTimes
Oursessionsrunthroughouttheyearwithoutabreak,includingbankholidays.ExceptforduringtheChristmasholidayperiod,whentheclubclosesfortwoweeks.Fromtimetotimeitmaybenecessarytocancelsessionsifurgentunexpectedmaintenanceofthepoolisrequiredandifeventsarebookedsuchasswimmingcompetitions.
Werunsinglelevel30minutegroupsessions,whichfollowa12weekcoachingcycle.Attheendofthetwelveweekcoachingcycle,ourcoachesre-organisethegroupstofacilitateanymovementsupanddownalevel.Wetrytokeepthetimingofyoursessionthesame,however,thisisnotalwayspossibleandyourtimemaychangeslightly.Wewillcontactyouaboutthenewtimings.
OurLearntoDivesessionsrunatthefollowingtimes:Tuesday: 6.05pm– 7.05pmFriday: 4.30pm– 7.00pmSaturday: 10.05am– 12Noon
Weofferasessiontimewherewehavespaceandwherethecoachfeelsthatyourchildwillbebestplacedtoachievetheirfullpotential.
Fees
LearntoDivefeesarecalculatedonayearlybasisandthendividedintotwelveequalmonthlyinstallments.Theclub,beinganonprofitorganization,keepthefeesaslowaspossible.Pleasedobeawarethatrefundsforperiodsofabsencearenotfactoredintothesecalculations.
Forlevel’sonetofive;themonthlycostis£26.00permonthandthiscoversone30minutelessoneachweek.ForLevelsix;themonthlycostis£28.00permonthandthiscoversone60minutelessoneachweek
TheschemerunsthroughouttheschoolholidaysandonbankHolidays.ExceptforovertheChristmasholidayswhenwedoclosefor2weeks.
TheClubalsoaskforarefundableholdingdepositequivalenttoonemonth’smembershipfees.Thisisrefundedwhenamemberleavestheprogramme andhasprovidedonemonth’snotice.
