1. From the FILE menu, select OPEN or use the CMD/CTRL-O keyboard shortcut.

2. Navigate to the location of the picture you want to use and select OPEN.

3. If the LAYERS palette isn't visible, click LAYERS on the bottom of the screen.

4. Unlock the layer by double-clicking on the lock.

5. When the New Layer dialog box appears, press OK.

6. From the IMAGE menu, select RESIZE, CANVAS SIZE.

7. In the CANVAS SIZE dialog box, tick the RELATIVE box, next to ANCHOR, tick the upper center box, and enter 100 percent HEIGHT.

8. In the LAYERS palette, hold down the CMD/CTRL key while clicking on the NEWLAYER icon (dog ear). A new layer will appear below Layer 0.

9. Reset the default colour palettes by pressing D on the keyboard.

10. Fill the transparent layer with black by pressing the keyboard shortcut ALT/BACKSPACE (PC) or OPT/DELETE (Mac).

11. In the LAYERS palette, click on Layer 0.

12. Press the keyboard shortcut CMD/CTRL-J to duplicate the layer.

13. From the IMAGE menu, select ROTATE, FLIP LAYER VERTICAL.

14. Press the V key to select the MOVE tool.

15. Drag the flipped image to the bottom of the canvas so it looks mirrored.

16. In the LAYERS palette, click the LAYER MASK icon.

17. Press the G key on your keyboard to select the GRADIENT tool.

18. In the TOOL OPTIONS, ensure the white to black GRADIENT andthe LINEAR gradient are selected.

19. Hold down the SHIFT key while drawing a line from the center to thebottom of the image.

20. In the LAYERS palette, click the NEW LAYER icon (dog ear).

21. Fill the new layer with WHITE by pressing the keyboard shortcut CTRL/BACKSPACE(PC) or CMD/DELETE (Mac).

22. From the FILTER menu, select SKETCH, HALF-TONEPATTERN.

23. In the FILTER dialog box, enter SIZE: 7,CONTRAST: 50, PATTERN TYPE: LINE.

24. Press OK to make a black and white lined pattern.

25. From the FILTER menu, select BLUR, GAUSSIAN BLUR.

26. In the FILTER dialog box, enter RADIUS: 4.0 Pixels.

27. From the LAYER menu, select DUPLICATE LAYER.

28. In the DUPLICATE LAYER dialog boxunder the DESTINATION BOX, selectDOCUMENT: NEW,NAME: Displacement Map.

29. From the FILE menu, select SAVE AS.

30. Navigate to a location you can remember, leave the FORMAT as PHOTOSHOP.

31. Click OK.

32. From the FILE menu, select CLOSE.

33. In the LAYERS palette, drag LAYER 2 to the TRASH.

34. In the LAYERS palette, ensure you are on Layer 0 Copy and have the LEFT iconselected (not the layer mask).

35. From the FILTER menu, select DISTORT, DISPLACE.

36. In the DISPLACE dialog box, enterHORIZONTAL SCALE: 4VERTICAL SCALE: 0DISPLACEMENT MAP: STRETCH TO FITUNDEFINED AREAS: REPEAT EDGEPIXELS.

37. Press OK.

38. From the OPEN dialog box, navigate to the location you saved your DISPLACMENTMAP.

39. Press OPEN.

40. From the LAYERS palette, click the HUE/SATURATIONadjustment layer (black and white cookie tool).

41. In the HUE/SATURATION tab, tick the COLOURIZE box,adjust the hue to BLUE (approx. 215).

42. Press the CLIP TO LAYER icon.

43. In the LAYERS palette, adjust the OPACITYto 20%.

44. From the FILE menu, select SAVE AS.

45. Navigate to the location where you want to save the document, select JPEG as theFORMAT.

46. Select the desired QUALITY.

47. Press OK.
