This tutorial outlines how to convert an image into a photo that is part pencil sketch and part color picture. Using layers, adjustments and filters, learn how to make a dynamic morphing image. 1. From the FILE menu, select OPEN and select aphoto in which you want to add the effect.
2. Press the keyboard shortcut CMD/CTRL-J to duplicate
the layer.
3. From the ENHANCE menu, selectCONVERT TO BLACK AND WHITE.
4. In the dialog box, select the style that shows the most contrast.***You may need to increase the contrast for the best pencil sketch to work
5. Duplicate the newly created black and white image layer using the keyboard shortcutCMD/CTRL-J.
6. Invert the colours by pressing the keyboard shortcut CMD/CTRL-I.
7. If the LAYERS palette is not visible, press the LAYERS button on thebottom right of the screen.

8. In the LAYERS palette, change the top layer blending modeto COLOUR DODGE.
9. From the FILTER menu, select OTHER then MINIMUM.
10. Adjust the radius slider between 1 and 3 pixels.
11. Merge the top layer by pressing the keyboard shortcut CMD/CTRL-E.
12. Open the LEVELS dialog box by pressing the keyboard shortcut CMD/CTRL-L.
13. Slide the GREY slider left and right to achieve the desired pencil sketch look.
