Every day—ask yourself: How
can we do this differently?
What can we try, today, to
make things: quicker, easier,
safer, more team- or patient-
focused, better? To start, just
fill out the front side of a
Kaizen Bright Idea card and
post it on your board.
What: Kaizen is a Lean process improvement tool that is all about finding opportunities to make a “change for the better.” Use the Kaizen board to identify opportunities to continuously improve and collaborate with your coworkers to address them.
Why: Before we can fix a problem, we have to know about it. Kaizen boards exist to allow frontline employees to be involved in improving their own daily work by identifying issues and offering ideas for solutions.
How to Jump Start Your Kaizen board:
• Bring challenges to your coworkers. What’s our department’s biggest frustration? Do we have a process that often goes wrong? What can we do about it?
• Leaders can ask for ideas when rounding on staff or at departmental huddles/meetings.
• Identify when staff are doing improvement work without using the board.
